Maybe the best mini-system around, but...October 8, 2008 ...believe it or not, my displays on the RX-E810 reciever and the DVD-E810 media player do not perfectly match. Though were are not talking about the difference between, for example, red and blue LCD displays; my RX-E810 reciever display is noticeably blue-hued, while the DVD-E810 media player is noticeably green-hued. That said, the exteriors of the two components are identical, and the sound of this system is so good (especially with the addition of the subwoofer) that it will bring tears to your eyes. Oh, and for a perfect match on the subwoofer, make sure you get the one with the "piano finish;" it best compliments the mini-system speakers.
AMAZINGOctober 4, 2008 I simply can't find any other word to describe this system quality sound! Amazing job by Yamaha! Each time i play a CD, DVD, song from my Ipod or just music from my computer through this system i have to sit back and listen to the track like i have never heard it before. Everything sounds amazingly clear and balanced, very solid performance, just super!!! Don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed. Sounds wonderful! Little note, the speakers may need some time to break in, be prepared. You will definitely appreciate your new system more if you hook it up to a monitor for better play back control. Must have add-on is the yamaha ipod dock - control your ipod from the remote, can see track, artist etc info on the receiver display - very neat. I bought a pair of stands for the speakers and couldn't be any happier with the result - exceptional stereo zone. A Subwoofer? - Maybe, i had one by yamaha before i bought the system. It definitely made the sound deeper, but i turn it off quite often. (in my opinion, you may need one if there are issues with your room and you can't figure the right stereo zone configuration/position) Play around - it's worth it. The System ROCKS - may look small, but the SOUND is BIG. speakers are 87dB Enough said?!
My precious!September 14, 2008 All I can say is that it is everything I hoped it would be. I'm debating buying a subwoofer, but I may not need it. I played "Rain" by the Beatles, my bass test, and could not imagine it sounding any better.

I have been looking for a compact hi-fi system for some time now. I purchased and returned a number of them. I must say that I found it, this is it. Beautiful sound just what I am looking for. Thumbs up for Yamaha for developing such a superb system.

I'VE PUT THESE LITTLE SPEAKERS ON TOP OF MY OLD SPEAKER TOWERS AND YOU WOULD SWEAR THE SOUND IS COMING FROM THE BIG TOWERS. I CAN'T TURN THE VOLUME UP TO 50% WITHOUT GOING OUT IN THE YARD. IT'S INCREDIBLE.
