Does it make a difference?January 18, 2008 The answer is that I cannot tell an appreciable difference in proximity. In addition, you need an adapter to use it and this has to be bought separately. I would not buy it if you expect to get much closer to the subject.

This telephoto lens works well with our DSC-W1. It MUST be used with the VAD-WA conversion adapter. The lens and adapter are both screw mount and can be left attached together. That way you only need to screw the lens "assembly" directly to the camera. No fuss.
When you go full wide angle with the telephoto attached, there will be some corner darkening, but this can be fixed by zooming out a little.
Pictures at full zoom are sharp. We are very happy with it.
