Product Description Nothing changes the way you see the world like High Definition, and no company does High Definition like Opteka. In the professional setting, Opteka's glass optics define High Definition. Change the way you view the world. Enjoy outstanding detail, enjoy enhanced clarity, enjoy Opteka. Since it fits right over your camera's existing lens system, a wide-angle converter affects the full zoom range of your camera's lens. A wide-angle converter increases your angle of view - scenes include more of the landscape, groups include more people, and interiors show more of the room. A .5x wide-angle converter DOUBLES your angle of view, allowing you to get twice as much in the picture (AND your telephoto setting also becomes wider; not zooming in as close).
Customer Reviews:
Excellent wide angle lens, not very expensiveOctober 1, 2008 I received the Opteka lens quickly from the seller. I have used it often since getting it. I am very happy with the quality of the videos. And the price was quite reasonable.
Great lens on a budgetMay 27, 2008 At about 1/8 of the price of the similar lens made by Sony, this lens is a good substiture. There is some slight blurring on the very corners of the screen, but most of the blurring is beyond the viewable region for most TV's so it's barely noticable. It doesn't work with the still photo mode on my HDR-SR1 but I use the still mode so rarely that it doesn't matter to me.
Decent value, but some quirks may bother videophiles...May 14, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My HC3 badly needs a wide angle lens. I wasn't sure if I'd want to spend for Sony's HD wide angle lens. This lens was cheap enough to take the risk. First, 47th St did include a step up adapter ring even though it's not mentioned in the description.
The lens is pretty bulky (in length), but this is a first lens attachment I've ever purchased (after using HC3 for 10 months w/o any lens). Viginetting (barrel affect) is quite apparent. The optic is too small for the "still" photo setup because it's actually black on the corners. Video recording is OK. Videtaping my kids indoor soccer game, and you can see the lens "bend" straight lines on the floor. For the HC3 indoor recording, a wide angle lens is required and this is a decent lens until you can afford the Sony HD one.
