Product Description The 24-Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch provides non-blocking, wire speed switching for your 10, 100, and 1000 megabit network clients. Drop this switch in place of your current workgroup hub or switch, and you can upgrade your high-requirement workstations to full Gigabit speeds as necessary, while continuing to service other clients at their current speeds. Or build your network from the ground up, with appropriate link speeds for each user's requirements. Either way, it's perfect for graphics, multimedia, and other applications that have to move large files across the network quickly. And when you need to expand your network even further, the two Mini-GBIC ports let you add fiber-optic capability easily and cost effectively. With the 24-Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch, you can connect your existing 10/100 Ethernet network to a Gigabit server backbone without any additional equipment. All ports have automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover detection, so you don't have to worry about the cable type. Each port independently and automatically negotiates for best speed and whether to run in half- or full-duplex mode. Address learning and aging is supported, as well as 802.3x flow control with head-of-line blocking prevention to keep your high-speed clients from bogging down in lower-speed traffic. Fast store-and-forward switching prevents damaged packets from being passed on into the network.World famous Linksys reliability gives you peace of mind and the rackmount form factor integrates smoothly into your network infrastructure. Let the Linksys 24-Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch kick your network into high gear.
Customer Reviews:
Great switch, but largeMay 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The switch has worked flawlessly. Unfortunately the switch is larger than the one it replaced and we had to get a deeper wall rack for it, but I would purchase again regardless.
Enterprise is like a Cisco so ... is LinksysMay 13, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Good web administration faster and easy to setup
Doesn't work with Firefox -- or ANY mac browser!November 22, 2006 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I second the comments about the loud fan.
However, the deal breaker for me (I'm returning the unit I bought) is that the web management interface does not work with Firefox. In fact, it works ONLY with IE on a PC.
Given that many other Linksys products work with Firefox, I was pretty surprised.
Linksys needs to have a talk with the clue fairy and cut some new firmware.
NOISY - VERY NoisyApril 1, 2005 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I placed this switch in an isolated central wiring closet that has other network equipment, some with fans and disk drives. There has never been any sound audible outside the wiring closet.
This switch sounds like a vacuum cleaner, and is clearly audible and objectionable in every room that abuts the closet.
The switch seems to function OK but the noise is so loud that I regret the purchase.
Unless you can mount this switch were noise is already very loud, or where noise will not bother anyone, I'd recommend you look elsewhere.
Great switch but big and noisy!February 23, 2005 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
Check out those dimensions! BIG!. It has a fan too and they haven't taken any lessons from Steve Jobs about making the fan quiet so it better be in an enclosed, insulated space if you are putting this in your home or small office. Other than that it is great and a real performer (switches at wire speed) p.s. I wish I could change my vote to 2 stars. Although they answered the support line quickly, I was told that the noise of this product is as designed and it really isn't intended for a small office, but rather should live in an already noisy data center where it can just add to the din. I am going to return mine and find another brand that actually wants it's equipment to be used in a small office. Sigh...
