5 out of 5 stars Works great and would (did) buy another one.   September 7, 2008
I am able to ping off my neighbor's router with the use of this simple extra product. Of course I have permission as we share net expense. Seems to work just fine for me and have no problems yet after several months' use. Love it!

4 out of 5 stars A Workhorse Wifi Adapter   August 30, 2008
I'll just start off by saying that my product broke, but it was likely my own fault. I think i accidentally crushed it, but one of the great things about buying from linksys is their support is great and i was sent a replacement right away. The warranty and support from linksys makes it worth it IMO.

I bought one of these in april 08 and it served its purpose well. I used it extensively in areas with weak signals, and the built-in transmitter in this thing was able to connect to routers of all brands and all signal strengths.

The speedbooster feature will only take effect if using a speedbooster router, but as for its effectiveness i cannot say, as i have never bothered getting that router.

I have downloaded many gigabytes of data with this, and the only issues ive had is that it takes some fidgeting to figure out how to acquire the best signal, despite it being omnidirectional. It can get quite warm if used for long periods.

Easy to install, although i wouldnt bother with the software they provide. If you have XP just use the built in wireless zero service.

2 out of 5 stars Vista-Compatible? Not really...   August 16, 2008
I tried for about an hour to install this on my Vista desktop, with no success. I followed every step of the included instructions, but could not get it to work.

Also, this device is not plug-and-play, a feature that I think every modern computer product should have. To be fair, however, other wireless network adapters do not have this feature, either.

5 out of 5 stars Linksys WUSB54GSC wireless adapter   August 12, 2008
I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to others. Just remember that at one point in the software installation the computer using the wireless network needs to be physically connected to the wireless router via an ethernet cable. After that, you just disconnect it from the wireless router, set it up wherever you want, and have at it.

1 out of 5 stars not worth my time   August 5, 2008
I have a late 2002 Dell Optiplex desktop running Windows XP Pro SP3. I was using a Linksys USB wifi adapter, but ever since I've had it I've had my connection fail, sometimes as often as every 10 minutes or so. I decided to try something new, and since this had the highest score of the ones at the store, I gave it a go.

It wasn't worth it. After installing the software, and plugging in the adapter, the software program told me I was connected, but Windows said it had no connectivity. Tried repairing the connection, restarting, uninstalling and reinstalling. Same issue. Tried to use Windows Hardware Wizard to install drivers and got a warning that this hardware hadn't passed Windows flag testing. Interesting. Maybe its SP3, maybe my desktop is just too old, but either way I had no luck with this product.
