Good Value NAS for IDE DriveSeptember 24, 2008 Once firmware was updated the drive worked with Vista PC. I access this drive using XP and Vista from LAN - both work OK. I would recommend this drive if you are looking for NAS using an older IDE drive. Construction is fine. Manual good enough to complete installation without too much difficulty.

i slapped a spare and used HD into the CN-350 and got it going on the home LAN. My purpose was to get machines leeching off music, video and pictures off my PC when i am doing serious stuff on it. So i moved some files on to this NAS and that's what i'm using it for...its very limited function wise but that's what i paid for !

I bought this as an extra, unmanaged network storage device. It doesn't matter to me that it only supports FAT32. You only realy need NTFS if you are setting up file and folder security. I had intended to use it with a terrabyte drive, but found out that 750 GB is all anyone makes with an ATA (not serial) interface. So I slapped in a new, unformatted 750 GB Seagate Barracuda and fired it up on the network. Following the instructions for setting it up was easy. In about 10 minutes, I had changed the IP to static, formatted the drive (one partition), renamed the device to something a bit cooler than "Storage-0f05", changed the admin password, and set up a few dedicated folders.
My only complaint is that the enclosure was missing a couple of screws, but as I had lots of extras, it wasn't a problem.

Bought two of these to house the data drives that I took out of my desktop server. Absolutely appalled that no where in any product description did ever mention that FAT32 is the only supported drive structure. Only after hours of troubleshooting did I finally find in the specs on the manufacturer's website a single line noting supported file structure. NTFS WILL work when connected via USB, but why would you want to pay for the IP interface if all you need is USB? Right now I have 4 32GB partitions for 1 drive.

Say's it works with a Mac, but by the very poor Mac instructions you'll never get it to work.
