REV drive not compatible with Vista Disaster RecoveryFebruary 26, 2008 I attempted to store a backup from Vista Complete PC Backup & Restore on the REV drive and received the error message "Media is not UDF". Storing a Disaster Recovery Image is the reason I purchased the drive. The drive is excellent for straight copying of files, but is not good for use with third party software. I talked to a Tech. support Rep., and he gave me the usual run around, saying if files can be copied to it, the drive is fine. They said I should call Microsoft.

This drive may work correctly for you if you have no DVD/CD burning software on your computer. I had Roxio (Sonic Solutions) Easy Media 8 on my PC, and it made it so that I could not eject nor format a REV disk, nor could I detach the drive without blue-screening (BSOD) my Windows 2003 server. I tried this on 3 separate systems (2 servers, one Windows XP). All Iomega customer support (3 individuals there) would do was to finger point and make me do all the testing (uninstall software, uninstall drivers, try this, try that). They could not tell me what DVD burning software would coexist on a PC with an attached USB 2.0 REV 70 GB drive. They (and this was more than one customer support person at Iomega) explained that it's not their job to test their products with other software. They suggested that I buy Nero or other DVD/CD burning software to see if they caused the REV drive to not work correctly. Why should this compatibility testing be my responsibility?
Come on Iomega! Roxio (Sonic Solutions) is one of the top 2 or 3 DVD/CD burning products in the world. You produce a product that is not compatible with that software and it's my responsibility to work that out with Sonic Solutions? (They told me that I had to contact Roxio to find out why their software makes the REV drive fail and get Roxio to fix it).
My machine, which has been stable for over a year, began blue screening after I installed the REV drivers and this product.
I thought the days of finger pointing and poor customer service were long gone.
