All I have to say is that this item has KNOWN defects since it is labled ON THIER FAQ's. The exact same issues I had with my Hard drive they were describing it on the SECOND FAQ. Should have done more research on the product before I purchased it. ONE year and ONE day after I bought it it broke LOST EVERYTHING. to retrieve info it will cost $750 and upwards to $3000. TOTAL SHAM DONT BUY IT!!

The product was received in good condition, preformatted in ntfs format. This allowed me to run a full backup of my computer using vista backup tool. No software had to be installed, though it came with a cd for automated backups.
Some aspects I would like to highlight for potential buyers are
The drive shows only a capacity of 931 GB instead of 1024 GB that one would expect from a 1TB drive.
In terms of warranty, this drive seems to offer what some of the bigger names do
Cavalry - 1 Year (Had never heard this brand, the price made me pick it) Iomega - 1 Year WD - 1 Year
except the following which offered greater lengths of warranty for their products
Lacie - 2 Years Seagate - 5 Years
This product also came with a mail in rebate offer that requires visiting a site mir411.com. However, a visit to this site prompted an alert from my browser (chrome) that this site hosted malware do.qwertyy.cn. One might need to tread here with caution. Have notified amazon about this.
On other fronts,
- The power cord seems a little short (approx 3'). - The unit is not totally silent when no backup activity is occuring. - The external finish of the product and accompanying material are not visually as appealing as from the more established drive makers.
The big test would be the longevity of the drive and this brand which I cant comment on at the moment as I got this today.

I've been reading some good reviews about Cavalry lately, so I decided to give this a try. Turns out it was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. My old external hard drive had a loud, annoying fan, but this drive is incredibly quiet. The black case is really nice, and the LED logo on the front looks great.
I backed up all my files and I still have tons of room. 1TB for this price is an amazing deal. Bare drives cost more than this!

Pretty great. I was a bit reluctant to buy it cause I've never heard of the brand before, but the low price really got me. I haven't turned it off since I purchased it and it still stays cool to the touch. I download a lot of music and my laptop's drive just wasn't cutting it.
