Amazon.com Product Description The Sennheiser PX 100 Headphones use dynamic supra-aural mini headphones and a slim, lightweight design to provide convenience and superior sound to the traveler or outdoor user. Sennheiser's duoful diaphragms with spiral embossing provide high-resolution sound, while the twin damping technology creates crisp, fast bass response, helped by 80ppi polyurethane and special perforated elements. The ear cups can be turned 90 degrees and closed up, then put into a rugged carrying case that can fit into a shirt pocket. The included headband padding helps provide the perfect, snug fit for your head.
Great value but cord a bit shortAugust 26, 2008 The Sennheiser PX100 headphones sound great and work well if used with an mp3 player or other portable device. At 4.5 feet the cord is about a foot too short, in my opinion. My computer has the sound plug in back, so I need another 12 to 18 inches to gaze comfortably at the screen.
PX 100 is the Way to GoAugust 26, 2008 If you're looking to buy quality headphones at a cheaper price- look no further, these little babies are certainly worth it. I bought mine two and a half years ago, and they are still lasting perfectly fine- just one single pair lasting more than TWO YEARS! That has to say something about the higher quality of Sennheiser. I know one of the reviews says that they went through 3 pairs in 18 months- must have had a run of really bad luck with defective pairs (or handled them carelessly).
I am an extremely heavy music listener. I have my headphones on A LOT. I take them everywhere with me- on road trips, on long walks, for watching movies on the computer, on the way to and from work and school, and these PX 100s have NEVER failed me. I use to go through 2 to 3 pairs a year, but not anymore. You have to use common sense and treat them well, they are only going to last as long as you take care of them. They come with a storage case, use it and they should perform fine for a long time as they have for me.
If you have never heard better sound quality in headphones and have been sticking with the cheaper $20 and less pairs, you will be in for quite a treat. And you will most likely never want to listen to the cheaper headphones again (I sure don't). I know they are not the $500 pair of studio headphones, but they are a HUGE step up from the cheapos you see people everywhere using- people who have no idea just how valuable good sound is.
I listen to a very wide range of music- from opera to metal, ethnic fusion to movie soundtracks, and R&B to even a tiny bit of country, and these headphones really improve each song I listen to- it's like they let these songs breathe much freer. I can hear aspects of songs I never even knew were there (because of listening through cheap headphones).
Don't go back to the $20 headphones, these Sennheisers are worth every penny. I'm actually very surprised that they are sold for this cheap. Once these finally stop working (I'm starting to wonder just how far into the future that will be), I will certainly come back to Sennheiser, maybe even buy another pair of PX 100s, but Sennheiser is IT.
Excellent valueAugust 25, 2008 For the money this is an excellent piece of equipment. I use them with the laptop and the sound quality is very good, by far the best of those of in the same price range that I have tried; a rich sound with a good sonorous bass and a clear treble. Add to that the fact that they are very comfortable to wear and light in weight, you almost forget you're wearing them.
Connected to my NAD hi-fi they can be somewhat overwhelmed unless the volume is kept down. They work very well with my Pure DAB tuner and here cope better with higher volume levels. I also use them with the Yamaha digital piano and they are every bit as good as the heavy set that came with the piano.
However it is for use with the laptop that I primarily bought them, and for such I think you will have to go a long way to find better at the price.
Vert Satisfying headsetsAugust 24, 2008 For the price they are the best headsets I have used. They are easy to use, except for the collapsible feature, which is not the most convenient, but is useful.
The sound clarity is great and they are small and good for running and just listening to music the radio and so on.
Excellent sound for this price range, negligable build qualityAugust 18, 2008 I actually ordered these by accident, but I gave them a try since the packing was not the infamous blister type. The sound quality as everyone has said was quite good for this price range. The bass is a little overemphasized, the midrange wasn't to shabby (didn't feel impactful), and the trebles had a very sweet sound. I didn't find the signature to be incredibly detailed which may contribute to the overall warm sweet sound these cans are known for. The soundstage was quite expansive for this range (as should be expected with open cans) Unfortunately, during my trial of these, I noticed that the jack connection was loose. It looks like a got a defective unit but I feel that the wires are little too thin for my liking. The jack is probably the most failure prone part. I'm a little disappointed that sennheiser gave into the iphone craze and changed the jack design. They should stick with a L jack for... Anyways, returned them since the durability is questionable. I think I'll go with portapros.
