Customer Reviews:
Great Product but not for your Zune80gbJune 12, 2008 This is a FANTASTIC item, made in Belgium and not Chinese junk. However, be mindfull of the output power. It can charge a cell phone no problem. But this may not charge your Pocket PC's, treo's, etc etc. I bought it to charge my Zune80 and it did not output enough to charge it so I returned it (they refunded me with no problems)..
Lives up to the claimed capacityFebruary 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Some portable devices, such as my Palm TX or my Sony PSP, are a tad anemic in battery power. The standard 1200 mAh battery in a PSP slim is good for about 4 hours of play, which can be a real problem on long plane trips, or any other time you're not going to be near an outlet for most of a day. Similarly, when I use my Palm to read electronic books, battery life is an issue.
With this attached to my PSP, it ran for 14 hours without ever dropping below full battery charge. Since the PSP draws about 1.1 watts, that implies a capacity of about 15.4 watt-hours, or 5100 mAh at 3V, or 3080 mAh at 5V, which most devices want. I'm guessing that internally this is a 3.6v battery with a voltage regulator, since 15.4 watt-hours is 4280 mAh at 3.6v.
That's really high. It's about 50% more than American Power Conversion's similarly-sized USB battery, and double Sony's 2200 mAh "extended" battery for the PSP / PSP slim.
I used a USB to PSP power cable, and I also have a USB to Nintendo DS power cable, both of which are fairly easy to find and cheap. You could use the included #4 DC adapter for the PSP, though it's a little tight. Besides the Palm, PSP, and NDS, I can also use this as an external battery for my iPod.
The battery has 4 internal blue LEDs which indicate current power level if you press the small button on top. They're not visible in the photo because they're internal, and they shine right through the plastic case. If power is really low, there's also a red LED. They weren't exactly linear in their display, though. I dropped from 4 LEDs to 2 after just a couple of hours, but I didn't drop to 1 LED until about 12 hours.
This comes with a charger that's happy with either 120 or 240v, which is handy if you're traveling abroad. In fact, the charger's plug is the standard European round plug, and it comes with an adapter which coverts to US style flat prongs.
Highly recommended.
