it works lolNovember 30, 2008 I bought this unit to create a back up system for my home hot water steam heat radiator system. We are experiencing more and more power outages during our harsh winter months, and although we have natural gas and the pilot stays on during an electrical outage, there is a small gas valve that needs 25 volts of power to open to allow the gas to be lite by the pilot. There is a standard 120 line going to a small transformer that reduces the voltage on the furnance and without power no heat. BRRRRRRR lol, anyway talked with our plumber when he serviced the unit this year and we came up with the idea of an inverter to do the job. Amazon delivered the unit in 3 days, came well packed, and didn't take long to read the directions and figure out how to operate it. I have 3 vechicles and 2 extra batterys so I decided this was a better way to go than a generator, didnt want the smell, gasoline, or fumes. Have small trickle charger for the battery and when we hear a storm is on the way we will charge up the battery to be sure we have full charge, have operated the furnance unit for 30 minutes and IT WORKS OFF THE INVERTER MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, and the draw was so low the battery didnt lose any power during the 30 minute test. Also tested a house lamp with a 100 watt bulb and it ran for 30 minutes also with almost no lost of battery power. The unit looks good, is relatively silent, and does what it promises to do. I LOVE IT. My only comment is you need to be aware that it does not come with any cables to hook up to the battery, I split a pair of heavy duty jumper cables that I had laying around and use them. Short of that it is well worth the money, and I look forward to using the unit on remote job sites to power my electrical tools during the spring and summer. Again an excellent product.
Everything and more Cobra 1575-3000November 25, 2008 I shopped for some time for an inverter. Price was somewhat of an issue but quality and ease of use and reputation all were important. I saw the cheap ones on ebay, and here and saw how several people had had problems... don't need that.
I got the Cobra 1575 because it had good features and also a good name and reviews. I was not disappointed. This is a well made machine that feels solid and looks good. I have hooked it up to my 2 yellow-tops and it boils water with ease. It is not noisy. My only "learning experience" was that the remote switch needs to be held down before the indicator light shows the inverter is working... 2secs will do it, but it is not just a quick push to turn it on. All-in-all I am very happy with this unit and with free shipping a good deal all around.
KirkNovember 23, 2008 I am using this inverter with a Coleman 18watt solar panel, sunforce 7am charge controller and a 1000 amp deep cycle battery. Lovely service from this inverter, I cannot talk about the wattage as I have never connected enough to really see but for what i am doing it is working OK.

I'd just like to say that the product is advertised as a 3000 watt but what it really is is a 1500 watt (3000 watt peak) if the thing is 1500 watt why advertise it as a 3000 watt? I use this in the trunk of my 1982 Mercedes to power an immersion heater for a vegetable oil tank. I heat approximately 15 gallons of vegetable oil, which pretty much drains the deep cycle battery that is dedicated to the inverter. In the cold months, this inverter is handling 1.2 kW for about an hour everyday, and I haven't had a single problem.
