Though the unit's noise-canceling microphone makes it especially suitable for calls placed over a cell phone, it's also appropriate for use with traditional office phones.
Recipients of our phone calls reported no annoying disturbances or distortions during conversation, and audio quality on our end was clear as well, if a bit muffled. The headset works best on phones that feature good volume controls, because the microphone adjust switch raises and lowers the volume in a very narrow range.
The M175 also has the nifty feature of converting from a headband to an over-the-ear-style headset. Unfortunately, this also makes for a somewhat flimsy construction. Pieces immediately began falling off the unit as soon as we removed it from its packaging, though snapping the components back in place took little effort.

Great value & very comfortableOctober 10, 2008 I got these because I started a new job where I work from home and will be on the phone a lot. Have been using these for about 2 weeks now and they are very comfortable. I have been surprised at how comfortable these are after wearing them for most of the day, and the clarity you get. The folks on the other side of my calls have no issues on hearing me. I would agree that on first blush, they don't look very solid since its mostly plastic (trade-off for weight), the reception and voice quality are very good. As long as you don't abuse them, they should last a while and the price is very reasonable. I use these with my Blackberry 8330 and Panasonic KX-TGA931T cordless phone without any problems. Per other reviews, the volume control has very limited range, but I can use those on my BB or phone. The mute feature works and is convenient on the cord. Overall, great value. I hope to get at least one year of service from these. Have not tried the over the ear feature, but I prefer the cushioned padded ear piece.
Plantronics M175C: Good for SalesOctober 6, 2008 M175C Convertible Over-Ear/Head Mobile/Cordless Telephone Headset We use this headset on our Sales Floor and since purchasing it, the chatter and noise from other reps have been eliminated. Also, as a result of no background noise, our sales representatives are able to be properly understood and are able to make more sales. I highly recommend this product, it has solved one of our largest issues in our sales department.

Great headsetSeptember 10, 2008 This Plantronics headset has all the required features for someone who needs a professional type headset for home use. It has adjustable volume controls for speaking and listening. It has a good mute button. It has a small adjustable comfortable over-the-head setup with a smaller type ear cover that fits well on the ear & blocks out outside noise. The reception through this headset is excellent. I have it set on the lowest listening volume and it delivers crystal clear reception. I work at home and use a cordless phone with headset to do my job. I work 12 hrs shifts taking calls continuously and this is the best headset I have ever used. And believe me, I have used several different makes & models of headsets. I will probably buy another one as a back up.
