People can hear me talk with this headset on my Panasonic 5.8 GHz cordless phone--a breakthrough. With other headsets I've tried, people could barely hear me on any cordless phone I've used, even though those headsets (e.g., the Panasonic KX-TCA92) worked perfectly with my cell phone. This 214C headset has solved my problem.
I can hear other people fine, as well. The only thing I don't like is the mute switch; it's too hard to slide.
A FAQ on Plantronics website prompted me to give this headset a try and perhaps explains why other headsets have problems: "If the cordless phone is 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz, your voice may sound low. In that case, you will need one our "C" mobile headsets designed especially for cordless phones."
Actual audibility not includedAugust 23, 2008 I was excited about this little headset as it has the volume control and mute features right on the cord. So handy. I'm using a Samsung cell phone.
But I was disappointed using it. Even turned up to "maximum" volume, I could barely hear. And those I talked to on the other end couldn't hear me, either. The headset itself seems sturdy, but the volume control is both flimsy in construction and useless in function. Bummer. Would not recommend.
Perfect for my needsAugust 10, 2008 Having tried other hands free earphones, this is by far the best thing going! It doesn't fall out of your ear or off your head. It's comfortable and works great.
Good Headset for the PriceJuly 8, 2008 This headset is really very good for the minimal price. I have not experienced the volume problems that some of the others have. Clear sound, and I've confirmed that the person on the other end can also hear me clearly as well. The cord is just the right length if you're using it for your cell phone while driving, but it wouldn't be long enough to use on a home phone or computer. I'm quite happy with my purchase.
