Not worthy of the kindleAugust 20, 2008 This cover is simply not worthy of the kindle. The kindle is a wonderful, almost magical device. This cover is worthless. I fiddled with it, I read all the advice on modifying it with velcro and the like so that it actually performed the intended function. I gave up. I bought a cover that is wonderful. It is the cover that should have come with the Kindle, if Amazon hadn't been so cheap. The m-edge cover is superior in every way. Don't waste your money.
Pastor's KindleAugust 19, 2008 The Kindle is a gift for a friend and I have not ordered mine yet or even used the product. The recipient, however, is very pleased
Two pieces of small velcroAugust 12, 2008 I didn't like how easy this could pop out but it does appear to protect the screen better than most of the cases on the market (why is that?). I do like how you can fold the cover back so I figured I would do something to fix this.
So I put on two small pieces of velcro on the right hand side and that solved my problems. That was it.
Serves its purposeAugust 7, 2008 I like my cover. It feels suspiciously like butter leather despite the fact that it is faux. It feels steady and protects my kindle well. It's not exactly pretty so if you're looking for a fashion statement try a 3rd party.
I don't worry about my kindle falling out, the tab keeps it secure unless I tilt it too far forward in bed, then it will unhook and jump out at me. However, as I typically hold it in my right and my hand keeps the kindle in place.
Now the not so good. The inside of the cover is a touch tacky (as in sticky) on the spine and over the padding. No idea why, but it isn't bothersome enough to me to see about switching it out. And if you hold the kindle in cover tilting too far forward it will fall out. A touch of velcro would fix that, but again, it's not a problem for me.
Arts and Crafts CoverAugust 3, 2008 I am a contractor that loves to read. I build and install things and am not tech-savy, but I love my Kindle. It seems ironic that a high tech giant like Amazon is tripped up by a simple cover. I have read the reviews of the cover and share the experience. I am reminded of 5th grade arts and crafts class, "Now kids today we are going to upgrade a cover, don't spill the glue, be carefull with those sissors". If I was to leave my clients projects in this condition or quality ie: The $400.00 product is troubled by a $10.00 part, I would not be in business very long.
