Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Listen. Talk. Control. TuneBuds Mobile combines the powerful lows and crisp highs of Griffins TuneBuds comfort earphones with Griffins new ControlMic - a high-sensitivity microphone and control module - to give you great sound and iPhone control in one.
Lets you use Skype on an iPod Touch (2g)December 4, 2008 I bought this just for the microphone to try with Fring for the iPod Touch/iPhone, it does work not great perfectly but that's not the fault of the headphones.
As headphones these are almost worth the $20 I paid they are very "tinny" and hollow sounding. They fit comfortably in my ear but that matters little when the quality of audio at normal levels is sub-par. I may try the Apple branded headphones with Mic for $9 more but I'm trying to stay away from white headphones and unless a better Skype app for the iPod touch is released it's not worth really pursuing.
Good while they lastedDecember 3, 2008 Overall I was pretty happy with my Tune Buds. While they worked. Like many others here, the sound in one of the buds started to go after about two months of use. This is definitely a flaw with the wiring by the connector. If you jiggle it the sound will come back for a few seconds. Griffin will replace them, but who needs the hassle?
The positives are that the microphone is decent and the button on it will answer calls as well as turn on and off your music. It also comes with different sized silicone buds, the smallest of which fit my ears nicely and many often don't work well for me. The sound for my purposes, which was taking calls and listening mostly to podcasts, was fine.
However, if you use them daily like I did, you can probably expect them to break in a fairly short period of time, which makes them impossible to recommend. I'm looking at the Skullcandy earphones/headset as another option.
Poor quality. Lasted 2 weeks.December 2, 2008 I hoped this would be a good, cheap, utility headphone with microphone for the iPhone, for listening to podcasts and audio books while walking or running. Unfortunately, the product is of very low quality. Two major problems, maybe related: From the beginning there was "white noise" in the headphones even when no sound was playing from the iPhone; and the wires leading into the jack became exposed after only two weeks of not very heavy use.
Perfect iPhone CompanionNovember 23, 2008 These buds should ship with the iPhone, or maybe not, if they did one might not realize how much better they are. Sound great and super comfortable and being black they look great and are less noticeable.
Tinny sound and poor qualityNovember 20, 2008 OK, I knew from the reviews that the sound would have "sss's" with speaking. So I set the iPhone to "spoken word" and it seemed to help. But then the cable connection apparently broke at the junction with the plug. No rough handling, just average like with other buds I have. This Griffin did not last three weeks.
