Product Description The HD-PLC (High Definition Power Line Communication) Ethernet adaptor makes it possible for your home electrical wiring to serve as a link between your PC and modem. Getting online access is as easy as plugging into a power outlet. You can move your PC and connect to the Internet anywhere there is a power outlet in your home! There's no tricky installation or complicated settings. Just take the BL-PA100A out of the box and plug it into the power outlet. Set up the other equipment on the network, such as routers and PCs, as described in their respective instructions. With speeds up to 190 Mbps, advanced error correction, and AES 128-bit encryption, the BL-PA100A provides peace of mind at the speed of light.
Panasonic BL-PA100KTA Ethernet AdaptorNovember 16, 2008 This is by far the easiest solution to home networking/Internet sharing I have found short of having Cat5e cable built into the house. Essentially it's plug 'n play, just follow the simple instructions and your online in minutes.
I build/work on computers in a room at the opposite end of the house from the router. The house and wiring is old with the junction box in the basement and signal strength is as though I'm connected next to the router. I highly recommend this unit for home Internet sharing.
Panasonic Power Line Ethernet adaptorNovember 11, 2008 Using this pair to replace Netgear units that went bad. Had it up and running in a few minutes and it runs much faster than the old ones. Instructions were simple and complete.
Terrific product for addressing WiFi connectivity issuesNovember 1, 2008 My daughter's room is in a remote area of our home and WiFi connectivity was always a problem. The Panasonic Ethernet Adaptor was easy to install and provides excellent networking performance. Also the price, verses NetGear, was very attractive.
Didn't think it'd be easy...October 29, 2008 I ordered this product for "Directv on Demand" which requires the internet access. The installation was surprisingly easy although the manual is not well written. I live in a house which has it's own elec. box.
Rock solid connection, steal deal.October 22, 2008 I second the positive observations left here by others. After several troubled experiences with wireless Linksys and Netgear routers, both solutions were losing connection, later became even hardware dead in 13 month use, just out of warranty, period, we were giving up on a wireless connection in our congested Silicon Valley surroundings with complex wall interior. Based on the positive feedback here and on a splendid performance of Panasonic's wireless phones, we took the pair of Ethernet connectors, and we were not disappointed. Once the connection was established, it never faulted once in these many months!
However, note that power line connection may have its limits too. In our large square footage home the quest was to connect two rooms on its extreme ends, with receptacles connected to a different phase! The connection was not possible from the receptacles close to the computers, we laid out a cat-6 cable long the wall of one of the rooms to reach the closer receptacle. Once it snapped the connection, we were up and running. The speed is with 2-3Mbit/sec much lower than my 17-24Mbit/sec directly from my cable router, but its plenty enough and better than many people have with DSL. Maybe we could do something by connecting the 2nd room to the same phase, but we are fine for our kind of use with 2-3Mbit/sec.
