Amazon.com Product Description The HD-280 Pro is a closed-back, circumaural headphone designed for professional-quality monitoring. Its exceptional attenuation of environmental noise (up to 32 dB) makes it particularly useful for use in high-noise environments, in outside broadcasts, and for DJs. Featuring rugged design and optimum sensitivity, the HD-280 Pro will deliver detailed and natural reproduction of music and speech with a wide frequency response of 8 to 25,000 Hz (-10 dB).
Owing to its collapsible ear-pieces, the HD-280 Pro is highly compact when it comes to transportation. And all parts that are subject to wear and tear--such as earpads, headband padding, and the audio cord--are easily replaceable, ensuring long life. The cord is made of oxygen-free copper for pure, long-lasting audio transmission.
Grado 60 is much better than this headphonesNovember 27, 2008 My Grado 60 is more than 17 years old. The Grado 60 has clearer high, more natural mid, deeper low and richer sound stage than this new Sennheisher 280 Pro I received today. The 280 does have better isolation due to enclosed design. That isolation also comes with a price, it get hot very fast while I can listen to the Grado 60 for over an hour without notice any heat or fatigue on my ears. I had my wife and son listen to both on various songs, with the volume lower on the Grado since that headphone is more sensitive than the 280, we have no doubt the Grado 60 is much better sounding than the 280 after 3 minutes.
The Grado 60 cost me 69.00 years ago and it is still selling at that price, cheaper than the 280 on special sale. If you want to buy this unit, you owe yourself a listen to the Grado 60 first.
Great product, very satisfiedNovember 26, 2008 Sound quality is just awesome, and it blocks out most of the external noise. I have really large ears, and that usually means I have a problem with around the ear headphones. However the ear cups on HD-280 are not only large enough, but also quite comfortable with all the padding.
Some of the down sides are that it feels a little heavy on the head initially, but you sort of get used to it. Also this is not one of those aesthetically pleasing headphones. So if looks don't matter much to you, go for it!
Great ValueNovember 25, 2008 I love these headphones. They have solid sound quality and excellent noise dampening. My previous pair just wore out after a year and a half of wearing them all day at work, they were such a great value I think I more than got my money's worth. You can't beat these headphones with any others anywhere near this price point,
Great HeadphonesNovember 22, 2008 I'm using these to monitor audio during field video productions. The 32db sound isolation is great. These really help me determine which ambient noises are being picked up by the mics. Perfect phones for this type of application.
Great headphonesNovember 21, 2008 these are a good pair of headphones if your looking nto to spend a ton of a pair of headphones. the only things i disliked about them is the band started to crack after a couple months.
