Customer Reviews:
Very Good productOctober 21, 2008 I bought this like a year ago and works great, of course it has it issues but, the qualities suppress this, I use it to conenct my wii there through the component connection and works great, also it has good reception and it has a finetune integrated in it, that you can look for a better tune for the channel, you don't need the pc on for it to work, the only problem I have found is that when is off and you are getting the signal from you pc it you have set the speakers through it, it doesn't let you control the volume, so if it is too low you have to turn it on and turn up the volumen, but I found it minor...
Is very easy to use, just take care of the remote, I haven't found a replacement, mine is ok and works but if you are a person that doesn't care for the remotes, take care of this one...
I have like it very much...because is simple, not expensive and give a good resolution for any lcd or crt monitor.
Not bad, not without problemsSeptember 3, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I've had this TV box hooked-up to my system for a few days now. I have developed a pretty-good sense of what it does well, and what it does poorly.
GOOD:
To start, the High-Def implementation of this product is excellent. I was using it to connect my XBox 360 to a 22" widescreen LCD running 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz, and the picture quality was excellent at 480p... far better than what I've experienced with TV tuners that run in your computer's operating system. It can handle higher HD resolutions, but the best picture was at 480p.
I am not using it to tune channels (I have it connected to a satellite receiver), so I can't comment on that, but running my standard definition video signal from the receiver through the s-video connection also yields very good results. It is a little frustrating that it can't pillarbox the 4:3 image (it streches across my widescreen). I have the audio going to powered speakers, and it sounds fine to me.
BAD:
No HDMI for your High-Def video, and no DVI for your computer video signal. Everything about this box is analog. It only has 15-pin (HD15) and YPbPr connectors.
The pass-through implementation of this product is horrible. At 1680 x 1050, the passed-through signal (from your computer) has so much noise in it I was getting a headache. So, I had to disconnect it from my computer and use the DVI input to see my computer's signal on my monitor instead. That means no PIP (which the sparse manual says is not supported above 1280 x 1024 anyway), and I have to go through the extra step of using my monitor's controls to switch between the computer signal and the TV box's signal.
Even the audio pass-through from my computer was noisy (crackling), so I connected my computer's audio signal directly to my speakers through a secondary input. Interestingly, I didn't have this problem with the audio from my satellite receiver.
SUMMARY: If you have a way to switch between the video signals from your computer and from the TV box, this does a great job of sending video directly to your monitor. Same for audio signal to your speakers. It does an awful, noisy job of passing video & audio signals from your computer through it. Forget about the PIP as a result.
Missing a little somethingAugust 9, 2007 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
Missing cable and power supply. Hard to testify to quality when there's not enough there to work. Save your money. Wish I had.
