the description calls the dimension form the wall to the edge of the mount to be 2.5" it is really like 7" if you want something that will hang a TV close to your wall, this is NOT the mount for you. i returned this one and got another one for $5 more. Premier Mounts AM2 Swingout Arm Mount much better. other than that the construction was solid but still i like Premier Mount more.
