Product Description Your iPod shuffle is an incredible entertainment value in an incredibly small package. It delivers the music just like its full-size iPod cousins. But one thing it doesn't do is fit in the dock well in your made-for-iPod speaker system. That's why Griffin Technology made a Dock Adapter especially for 2nd generation iPod shuffle. The Dock Adapter is shaped just like the dock connector on the bottom of every full-size iPod. Plug it into your iPod shuffle's headphone jack, and suddenly the little guy fits in your iPod speakers just like the big guys.Take Griffin Dock Adapter with you, and you can play your iPod shuffle wherever there's a set of Universal Dock speakers.
Very good product...works as advertised.August 14, 2008 This little dock adapter does exactly what it's supposed to do...allow you to dock your shuffle on a regular iPod dock. I tried it with my iHome alarm clock radio and my Phillips alarm clock radio. The dock adapter fits nicely. It will, however, come unseated if you just grab your shuffle and lift it out. You need to use your other hand to keep the dock seated. Small inconvenience. I would have given this item 5 stars if it charged the shuffle when it is docked but it doesn't. I use it at work so I just take the charging dock with me and plug it into a free USB port on my computer and charge it when necessary. It also does not work as an alarm, but that's a job for my 80 gig classic iPod. Good little product. October 7, 2008 - This is an update to my previous review. If I could change my rating to 5 Stars, I would. You can disregard the comment about not being able to charge the shuffle while in the dock adapter. I just realized there is a switch that you have to slide over to be able to charge. You can't listen at the same time, but that is a small inconvenience.
Griffin Dock AdaptorJuly 25, 2008 Unfortunately this product did not do what I thought it would, which was to allow me to use my ipod shuffle with a clock radio I have. It allowed me to play the ipod, but not use this feature. It's not an issue with the dock adaptor though, just the ipod. The product arrived on time and in good condition.
2nd Generation Shuffle OwnerMarch 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I wanted an I-pod for Christmas and received the 2nd generation Shuffle from my family (this is the very small Shuffle that has a clip on the back). When it came to listening to it in my office I was limited to just speakers. After looking on Amazon I discovered the docking adapter that makes it easy to use one of the I-pod speaker docks that many retailers sell. It works great and I can listen to my I-pod during the day and with a flip of the switch on the adapter I am able to charge it at night! Great product and highly recommended.
Apple iPod Shuffle Dock - Works but OverpricedNovember 17, 2007 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
The fact that some iPod docks don't have line-in ports is really sad. Truthfully, there's a full range of ports that should be standard on any such device. With this guy, Griffen has filled the void for iPod shuffle owners who own suck portless iPod docks. (I would guess that is a very small audience!)
Apple usually provides dock adapters for their players, but the Shuffle is the exception since it comes without the proprietary iPod dock interface.
To me it seems overpriced, but in fairness that's probably because of the small market for this product. Actually, if makers simply included line-in ports on their docks this adapter would have an even smaller audience. Shame on Bose as well for not including the enough ports on their very costly dock. For the reasons of cost I may have been too harsh on this guy. It does work so if you need it there's few alternatives. I've heard complaints about it not working with the universal dock so be warned. Just seat your player and dock carefully.
Good luck!
almost works!August 4, 2007 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I see this, I think, cool! The wife can dock her shuffle in the JBL onstage I gave her. NOT! Doesn't fit, no way in heavans half acre will this thing EVER fit the JBL dock. Being a devout hacker, even after many minutes with the box knife and Dremel tool, it's a NO GO. Not quite shure what Griffin was thinking when they designed this, but fitment in some docking devices is going to be tough. Sooo, if you have a JBL onstage, don't waste your time and money!
