Better than expected!!October 8, 2008 I couldn't believe how easy this was to use. It literally took me 30 seconds to set up. Plug it into the car charger, the default on the Coby was 108; my radio went up to 107.9, switched to transmitter to 107.9 and walla....music from the car stereo system. AND, it sounds pretty good with little or no interference (of course, that depends where you are). Having the extra charger was a smart design choice. Also, the unit looks pretty good and does not take up that much room (I have an 04 Altima). Highly recommended!!
Poor qualityOctober 5, 2008 I bought this product about 6 months ago. It usually worked fine, although it was a bit tempermental and some days (and in some neighborhoods) it had poor reception. But after only six months it broke: the wire ripped out from the unit despite gentle handling. Overall I was disappointed with both the reception quality and the workmanship.
Will not fit Toyota socket without modifications, otherwise great productSeptember 24, 2008 I ordered this product for my dad, who has a Toyota Camry. Had read the reviews about it not working in Toyotas, but wanted to give it a try and see if it really was a problem.
It would not work in his Camry when we tried it. Went to my Honda Accord and it worked perfectly. We compared it with another power adapter for a cell phone and noticed that on the cell phone adapter, the nose was tapered, while on the Coby, it was actually proud and nubby.
Got out the dremel tool and got rid of the bull nose on the Coby with about 2 minutes of shaping. Tried it again and it worked perfectly. Too bad that when they molded the nose they didn't do it properly.
Sound is good, there are lots of frequencies to broadcast on, and I really like that you can plug another adapter into the top so that it doesn't take up your only power socket. And the price is unbeatable.
So, if you have a Toyota and feel comfortable with shaving off a little plastic, then this is a great product. Non-toyota owners should be happy as well. But steer clear if you have a Toyota and don't want to do a little bit of modification.
Good for the moneyAugust 29, 2008 Fast shipping. The day i got it i tried it out and it worked fine. I was out of town for a few days and didn't use it again for another few days and then just for a quick ride. the next week when i went to work and tried to use it it didn't work. I returned that one and had Amazon ship another one and so far (it's been about a month) it's worked fine. I do get some static in some areas but for the price it's great. I would like to have one that charges my mp3 player as well and maybe someday i'll get one for that, but for the price this is a great deal...so long as it continues to work.
Works Very GoodAugust 26, 2008 This unit works very well. It has a broad range of frequencies and we live in a very large city where there are numerous FM stations. I bought it for my son and he blasts it every day driving to school
