Don't buy it. Get a WD MyBook.August 30, 2008 This external HD is not good. Period. I have 7 external drives, and I find this one to be crap. I returned it almost immediately after it failed. Not good.
It was too big, too loud, unruly, and flat out didn't work properly. I had to return it.
Do not buy this model, no matter how inexpensive it is. Buy a Western Digital MyBook instead. I have 4 and they are reliable and pretty close to the same price (if not less expensive by now!)
What more do you want? I like itAugust 2, 2008 So I wanted a big external HD. It has to be reliable. It is quiet. I've used it to transfer 100s of gigs. It is reliable, NOT slow. I'm a power user..AND I like this. Tom
works but loudJuly 31, 2008 just like many others have stated the drive works just fine but is pretty loud. and big. due to the noise i will buy another brand next time.
does exactly what it is supposed to doJuly 28, 2008 I bought this drive six months ago as a backup device. It installed fine straight out of the box (on a PC), and hasn't given me any trouble since. It just sits there, shines its blue light and - works. I don't consider it particularly noisy either.
Not worth itJuly 19, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The price is tempting, but the drive rarely mounts on a Mac. I tried to use it for Time Machine but when I turn it on and the Mac boots up, I always get a prompt that the computer does not recognize the Drive and that I should format it. I should have gone for the Western Digital. Oh well...
