Nice charger and comes with 2700MAh AAs too!August 18, 2008 I've done a lot of searching for the best charger under $20 and this seems to be the one. In the past I used a Sanyo travel charger that came with the Sanyo batteries which worked fine, but since I was looking for the new 2700 AAs to add to my old 2500s I stumbled upon this cool charger.
The LCD is a very cool feature that's not just for looks, it's actually functional giving you information about the charge level of each battery. The refresh function is a nice feature too although you should only refresh NiMH batteries every 30 charges to preserve their lifespan. Too much refreshing causes your batteries to not last as long. It has a battery cover which is nice but during charging you should leave it open to prevent hot air being trapped. The charger itself looks very cool with a white glossy finish and green backlit LCD.
As far as charging goes, it works. Charging speed is comparable to my Sanyo charger using same capacity batteries. Since you get the new 2700 AAs with this unit, the price of the charger itself comes out to only around $15.
Does what it is supposed to doAugust 5, 2008 It does what it says - recharge the batteries fairly quickly. I like the display on the front to know about where in the process it is, and the auto-off feature.
Does everything I need and then someJuly 24, 2008 Bought this to replace a previous Sony charger that I lost. Works the same with a bit more features, especially like the lcd display which my old one did not have. Display is not an absolute must, but handy for giving me an idea of how much longer batteries need to recharge fully. However, not as convenient as it requires a AC cable, old one had a built in plug.

The recharger does just what it is supposed to do. I like the visible readout of the process as it is proceeding on the LCD. I have another recharger which has a fast and trickle mode. The fast mode may not bring it to full charge, but does provide enough for using the batteries in about an hour. This charger has only a single speed, and takes a few hours to reach full recharge. The Sony machine on the other hand is small and cleanly designed. The 2700 mAmp batteries are great -- much more longlasting than the usual 2000 or 2200 type, and worth perhaps half the cost of the unit.

Works very well. The little extra cost gets you battery meter, sturdy and slick casing, and a refresh feature that will drain your battery before starting charge. Well worth spending a few more $ to get better quality from sony.
