Amazon.com Product Description Sharp's AQUOS LC-26GA5U Advanced Super View television makes LCD quality and flat-panel elegance better looking and more affordable than ever. The 26-inch widescreen set is picture-frame thin and its table stand detaches for efficient wall mounting (wall-mount brackets optional). With 1,366 x 768 native pixel resolution, the LC-26GA5U offers compatibility with high-definition video sources up to 720p. Two built-in speakers powered by 10 watts per channel render full-bodied stereo sound.
LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life (no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and light weight/easy positioning. They also tend to be more affordable than their flat-panel plasma counterparts, which often (though not always) offer faster response times and higher contrast ratios.
Sharp's proprietary Quick Shoot video circuit ensures a lightning-quick response time of less than 16 ms for smooth-as-silk video and gaming graphics. The LC-26GA5U's Advanced Super View/black TFT (thin-film-transistor) screen offers exceptionally wide (170- by 170-degree) viewing angles and an extraordinary contrast ratio of 800:1 for super-black blacks.
Its high brightness (450 cd/m2) ensures wide dynamic range for vivid colors, great depth, and realism. You can place it anywhere--near windows, doors, or other light sources--and its picture will remain vivid. And, with its 60,000-hour lamp life, the backlight life is long enough to give you viewing pleasure for many years.
Connections consist of 2 high-definition component-video inputs, 1 DVI-I (Digital Visual Interface-Integrated) input for your PC, 1 HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) input, 3 composite-video inputs, 1 S-video input, and 1 RF input (HDTV reception may require an antenna). An audio/video output (composite- and S-video with stereo analog audio) facilitates hookup with a surround receiver, DVR, VCR, or other destination.
DVI-I is a direct-digital DVI terminal capable of transmitting both analog and digital video data. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV or monitor. HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multi-channel digital audio--all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.
What's in the Box LCD TV, remote control, remote batteries, a detachable table stand, an AC power cord (designed for 110 to 125V), a cable clamp, a cable tie, and a user's manual.

'More to See' in Sharp's Aquos 26" LCD TVMay 28, 2006 We bought a similar Sharp Aquos LC-26DA5U 26" LCD TV a few weeks ago. Great picture quality, superb sound, stylish design. After a lot of research and numerous trips to stores, we narrowed our search down to Sony (picture), Samsung (price) and Sharp (middle ground). Sharp definitely gives you the best of both worlds - quality picture at a great price. One area for improvement - remote control design (reminds me of a laundry bat :-)). Thank you Amazon for the FREE standard shipping offer! Got the TV within a week of purchase.
Fantastic!!!February 5, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you're considering an lcd, definately consider this one. I don't watch much tv at all. I bought this monitor to be used as a PC monitor for gaming. If you connect this set to a high end graphics card through DVI...Wow...Just wow! I spent months researching these televisions, and finally decided on this one. All that time waiting and researching paid off in spades. World of Warcraft has never looked better!!!
A really good buy.September 17, 2005 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this TV in January, so have had it for about 9 months. I looked at many models, and this seemed to be the best value. The sound is phenomenal, deep stereo which surprises you from just looking at the built-in speakers. I have enjoyed the sound in watching concert videos, such as Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Jefferson Airplane, the Who, James Taylor, etc. The controls are complicated and not well designed. There are too many buttons, and it is hard to find on the remote what you want it to do. The high-def picture is excellent. I have it hooked up to a Cablevision box. The best picture is for baseball and football games, PBS high-def, and the Tonight Show with Leno. For some reason, these shows stand out in their clear crisp picture and sound. The price of this TV has dropped considerably over the past few months, so it is an even better buy. Don't try to save a little money by buying a no-name brand. You will enjoy spending a little more for a quality picture and sound set.
Nice Bedroom TVSeptember 10, 2005 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is a first class TV for the bedroom. Deceptively big screen, sharp picture, good sound and simple, but extensive controls. I looked at more expensive and higher rated LCD's, but this looked like the best value. It turned out that I was right. That doesn't happen very often!
Splendid Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD TVSeptember 4, 2005 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have a relative who owns this model and am quite impressed with the image quality, even though she doesn't have it hooked up to a cable television service. The reception is superb for most of the commercial stations in the New York City area, with some of the finest image quality I have seen from a television. I've also watched movies from a DVD player connected to this television, with absolutely impressive contrast and resolution. Yes, this is an expensive Flat-Panel LCD TV, but what you get is well worth the cost.
