Customer Reviews:
don't buy refurbishedAugust 7, 2008 We purchased a refurbished tv (not through Amazon) and also bought a 1 year extended warranty. Within 2 months a loud crackling noise began coming out of the speakers. After speaking to the customer service rep, they suggested using a surge protector (the electricity may be the cause of the noises). After 2 more months (the original 90 day refurbished warranty had expired), we called the extended warranty company. They do not have technicians who can service Olevia TV's. So we ended up getting a check for the purchase price to buy a different tv or to get service on our own. What a joke! Don't buy refurbished! Not to mention that very few universal remotes work with Olevia tv's.
Pretty good for the price.April 19, 2008 I purchased this set a little over a year ago. It has been a good set and displays HD content well. It only had 1 HDMI port but it can be overcome with a splitter. The colors are vivid but the black areas could be better. But it's not a deal breaker. About a month ago it wouldn't turn on. I called Olevia customer service and they agreed to repair it for free even though it was 2 months out of warranty. They even paid for shipping. I've read reviews about people who have had bad experiences with Syntax Brillian/Olevia. But they have been more than accommodating to me. I would recommend this Tv even though the power board failed just after a year. But since it was repaired for free i can't complain too much. Hope this helps.
