Product Description JVC offers the 788 series 42-inch LT-42X788 LCD TV, featuring black cabinet with silver trim and an ultra-thin bezel. The 788 series sets provide a higher contrast ratio, faster response time and wider viewing angle. To ensure the best possible picture, this set features JVC's Genessa chip, a 32-bit CPU processor that combines all image processing, noise reduction and color management technologies together onto a single chip for more efficient communication, and thus better performance. Genessa includes JVC's Motion Adaptive Dynamic Gamma control, an algorithm that preserves tonal details and gradations in dark areas so that the image doesn't appear muddy.Genessa also includes Digital Video Noise Reduction that reduces the graininess for both analog and digital video sources, a Block Noise Suppressor that detects and eliminates "block noise", a Mosquito Noise Suppressor that eliminates noise in low bit-rate signals without degrading the image, and a 3D Y/C comb filter with DTV Cross Color Eliminator that uses an advanced 10-bit 3D Y/C separation process to eliminate cross color and dot interference that is imbedded in older source material.Standard definition signals are improved through new Natural Progressive IP conversion, improved scaler performance and a new PLL (phase lock loop) system that improves the performance of a composite signal.

So far so goodFebruary 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i did a thorogh research before landed on this one. i do like the 120Hz Sony better, but i decided not to pay $2500 for a 40" and for my first HDTV set. JVC has not disappointed me. i am a fan of JVC, my last tube set lasted 13 years. the picture quality is superb for this new set, color is vivid, natural and smooth. i am surprised to find the price has actually gone up!! i paid $1,100 and now is $1444? wow! the sound quality is really good as well. setup was easy, the craftsmanship is good, very clean design. very happy overall.

Awsome but has one bad pixelFebruary 10, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
We just love this TV it went through 2 trucking companies to get here from tiger direct but was worth it. It has one bad pixel but we haven't contacted JVC about this yet but still very easy to set up great picture and great price! After reading many reviews on amazon this TV was the best for the brand we love.
Great TV!December 4, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This TV is amazing! The first one I got had some issues with fine detail (particularly with single-pixel-wide sharp contrast). After some investigating I determined the set was messed up and I exchanged for a new one. The problem is gone... It looks great!
I am particularly impressed with the power consumption and energy saving features that come with this TV. Make sure to adjust the "energy saving mode," if you are an energy-miser like myself. I hooked the set up to a Watt-meter and got the following results:
OFF: (quick on) 17W (norm on) 0W (resolution of meter does not show fractional Watts - so it is probably between 0W and 1W)
The energy story is great, but I got the TV for the picture - which looks amazing! Halo 3 @ 1080p - looks fantastic. Watching Monday Night Football in HD makes me wonder how people watch sports in SD anymore. I'd put this JVC HDTV up against a Samsung or any other brand any day.
My only complaint (other than having to return the first one) is that there is no DVI input - Hardly a problem considering it has 2 HDMI inputs. I am very happy with it.
