Product Description Once again, Sharp, a leader in LCD technology, establishes a new design standard for LCD TVs. With a screen size class of 42", the AQUOS LC-42D64U raises the bar by fitting large screen sizes into incredibly small footprints. By changing the layout of circuits inside the LCD panel and by reducing the number of parts, Sharp engineers developed the Slim-line design which reduces depth by 25%, allowing placement of the LC-42D64U in virtually any setting. The LC-42D64U utilizes Sharp's proprietary Advanced Super View / Black TFT Panel with multi-pixel technology, providing 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio with Enhanced Picture Contrast Technology and 4ms response time. The LC-42D64U features built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners and includes 3 HDMI (version 1.3) inputs, compatible with 1080p signals, a PC input and 2HD component video inputs. Side terminals are included for wall-mounting convenience as well as RS-232C input for control.
Great TVSeptember 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my first LCD purchase as I did my homework for nearly 3 months. I have owned this for 9 months now and absolutely love it. It has ample HDMI inputs, weighs nearly 20lbs less than its predecessor and looks "Sharp" even turned off. Along with HD programming, my friends couldnt wait to watch ANY sporting event. Hockey had OUTSTANDING clarity and the Olympics were just WOW! I would definately recomend this TV to anyone making a LCD purchase.
A "surprise" from my husbandAugust 22, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't really care about HDTV. My sad state of TV watching includes a bunch of crap on Noggin, PBS and Cartoon Network. I rarely get to watch grown up TV.
I will concede that the picture is super. It is almost freaky how news anchors seem to be sitting in your living room. Who wanted to know how many freckles the weather girl has? Not me, for sure. But the Olympics were awful crisp and movies are over the top.
The sounds is taking a bit to get used to. Not sure why, but it seems that commercials are 50 times louder than the programming. If I cared all that much, I would fix it, I suppose.
It was well worth the money, as far as my husband is concerned.
great freaking TVJuly 19, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
You just can't go wrong with this tv. Best bang for the buck in 2008. Thing looks awesome mounted on the wall. Super thin, nice minimal design... a no brainer if I had the choice to make again.
So far so goodJune 18, 2008 Got it a couple of weeks ago, so far very happy with it as well as Amazon's service. While I expected a good picture, the most pleasant surprise has been how "smart" the user interface is and how it can sense what things are plugged in and where...
