Great value - happy buyerOctober 6, 2008 The Samsung LN52A650 is a great value. The picture quality is outstanding and the price is very reasonable. For me, the biggest negatives are: 1. the screen has more glare than other TVs. The glare can be managed by putting the screen at the right angle. 2. The glossy bezel with a touch-of-red is attractive, but also distracting - it reflects too much light; and who wants red on their TV anyway. I would have prefered a no-gloss black bezel
Some other reviewers complained about the sound and the remote control. Both are fine to me. I have a 5.1 sound system when better sound is required.
I looked at both the new plasma Panasonic 50" 800U and the Pioneer Kuro 5020. They both have very nice pictures, but their pictures don't look any better than this Samsung. I'm happy that I bought the Samsung.
Also - the Amazon white glove service was great. So much better than having to go to the store and lug that huge TV box home.

Purchasing experienceOctober 4, 2008 This was the first time that I bought such an expensive item online and I had considerable misgivings about the arrival condition of the TV Set. Amazon set a date for the delivery of the product and it came in on time and was in excellent condition upon arrival, Whew!! I was somewhat confused about the rebate ($200) that I was to have received upon purchase. The Rebate turned out to be for the purchase of NFL Regalia which I could care less about. A Consumer Services Representative E-Mailed me and gave us a $100 gift certificate for the confusion. Additionally Amazon also lowered the price of the TV three times during September as the price of the TV kept dropping. Amazon demonstrated that they are a reputable business and has earned my gratitude. The TV is great!! I have noticed that different channels of HD vary considerably in quality of picture. HD DVDs maintain consistent quality throughout the viewing experience. I will purchase a video disc for picture adjustments.
