Waste of moneyOctober 4, 2008 The map update did not correct ANY of the known flaws of my earlier version. In fact, I tested the differences, and where the old version made me miss my turn going through Clayton, NC into Smithfield, the new version makes me miss the turn, plus gives a (too)late prompt for a corrective turn with the recalculation. I wish I had stayed with the earlier version. The update has not made anything easier.

I purchased this update for my Garmin C340 and i don't see a bit of difference in the maps or the performance of my GPS. I live in Houston, Texas and the GPS still can't find my workplace, my gym, a nearby wal-mart and most other things. I am not sure what got updated by this DVD but i can tell you for sure...it wasn't the maps. I have two C340s and i was hoping to somehow update both with this DVD but it won't let me. The Garmin people tell me that i need to buy another DVD to update the other GPS....well, that's a mistake i am not going to repeat...especially when i am wishing i should not have bought this one. Don't waste your money buying this update..wait for a few years till Garmin comes up with Map update 2021 DVD and update everything then....and hope they updated the maps...

I was disapointedSeptember 30, 2008 I was a little disapointed with this product because i throught it would take out all of the place that are not there any more i go to the place and it not there or i cannot find it. i throught this would esase the places are not there anymore.
Much-needed update for L.A. areaSeptember 30, 2008 My Garmin nuvi 350 (from 2006, I think) was very out-of-date for the Los Angeles area, so I am relieved to have the 2009 update. It took less than 2 hrs to load, even using a very slow laptop and didn't erase any of my favorites (I made a spreadsheet in case it did, after reading some of the other reviews). The update DID change some of the features, slightly. For example, I noticed that the "spell name" option is in a different spot on the "where to" screen and I can't manually select the "sandwich-and-soda"/fast food icon for my favorites. Small things. Anyway, places that were not in the old maps have been added and it seems that misinformation has been corrected for the most part. I've only had the update for a short time, but I have yet to drive to a non-existent or surprisingly-different place than expected. I'd recommend getting this update, especially if you live in one of the specific cities that were significantly updated. And, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a Garmin GPS product if you are debating all of the options out there -- it's worth the money.
