Amazon.com Review Take your PC with you, around the house or throughout your office, and work wherever you want, with the ViewSonic airpanel V110P. This wireless monitor lets you check your email or surf the Web remotely from your Windows XP Pro-based PC (USB wireless adapter and cable not included). Don't think of the airpanel as a computer; it's a wireless accessory for your existing PC that you can write on and that provides access to all your files, applications, and settings. The design is chunky but easy to hold, with rounded corners and a clear, bright screen. Two USB ports on the top accept a mouse and keyboard, but since the airpanel is a touch screen, you probably won't need them.
In our tests of the airpanel, we found that the stylus was small but had a nice balance. The four-way cursor control was a little slow, but at least we didn't jostle the cursor accidentally; and the left and right mouse buttons were useful with the pen too. For text entry, we typed and wrote into an input panel. We tapped and dragged onscreen to control Windows itself; in fact, we could see our PC's desktop on the airpanel as if we were sitting in front of the PC screen, but without desktop wallpaper.
The 10.4-inch screen looked small initially, but when we held it in our hands or rested it on our lap, it didn't feel cramped; and it was small and light enough to carry easily from room to room. Without the usual PC components like a hard drive, CD-ROM, and so on, the Airpanel didn't get too warm to hold either.
Overall, the airpanel V110P is pricier than a normal PC monitor, but being untied from a desk is a great benefit. --Mary Branscombe, Amazon.co.uk
Amazon.com Product Description The ViewSonic airpanel V110P is a 10-inch wireless, touch-screen LCD monitor that lets you use your computer from anywhere in your home. Thanks to Microsoft's Smart Display technology, you can remotely access all the data on your Windows XP-based home PC--surf the Web from the couch, check e-mail while lying in bed, download recipes in the kitchen, share digital pictures on the patio--regardless of where your PC is located. (Wireless operation requires optional USB wireless adapter and cable.) And it's truly portable, weighing only three pounds.
The V110P includes a powerful 400 MHz Intel XScale processor for added speed, power savings, and efficiency. The Microsoft Windows CE for Smart Displays operating system works much like your PC, so you'll automatically feel familiar with applications. Convenient directional pad and hot buttons make navigation fast and simple. Memory is a whopping 64 MB ROM and 128 MB SDRAM. The long-life lithium-ion battery lasts up to five hours. Colors are vivid and text is crisp with the bright full-color transflective display. The 800 x 600 resolution keeps your image details clear.
The V110P supports an optional docking station to keep your Smart Display fully charged and within easy reach; it also permits convenient connection of an external keyboard or mouse for added input functionality. The V110P is an ideal supplement to your current PC and monitor setup, but if you want to use an airpanel as the primary PC monitor, check out ViewSonic models V150 and V150P with optional dock.

You won't be disappointed!December 24, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got mine yesterday and I'm loving it so far. It took me a while to setup because I had to upgrade from ME. But once I finally got everything setup, I've constantly been on it. There are some improvements that could be made, but overall I'm happy I bought it (not to mention I got it at a decent price). But enough about how much I like it, here is my list of some pros & cons so far.
Pros -Mobility. It's soo sweet not being tied to a computer desk. -Simple yet sufficient interface. The panel isn't cluttered with a lot of buttons you don't need, but all the necessary stuf is there. -Doesn't overheat. I've been on mine for close to 24hrs straight and there isn't much change in the tempature. -Easy input. The input panel has a keyboard and a writing pad which are both easy to use. The writing panel can even recognize script.
Cons -No indepedent browser. With the intergrated Wi-Fi, it would be nice to pull it out at a Wi-Fi hotspot and start surfing. (If there was a browser and email client included, I probably wouldn't have linked it to with myPC.) -Video plays choppy. -No scroll button. Not a big con, but it would be a nice thing to have.
So far these are some of the things I've noticed, but all in all I'm glad I got it.
At this price, why?September 30, 2003 21 out of 39 found this review helpful
I was initially intrigued by this technology, and eagerly awaited shipping products. But I was dismayed when I saw the prices. For not much more than the $800 of this 10.4" display, you can get a low-end laptop with a 14" screen and WiFi that suffers from none of the limitations of a Smart Display: - Sync with desktop? Accessing files and printers is what's most important; it's plenty easy to share stuff from your desktop PC and access it wirelessly. - Surf the web just as easily - Watch full-motion video - Enter text with a regular keyboard, not hunting and pecking on the screen - Read and write CD-ROMs
