5 out of 5 stars Sarah Brightman is an angel   March 23, 2008

Before buying this album, I had never before heard Sarah Brightman. I was always aware of her, but hers was a musical genre I would never be interested in venturing into ... or so I thought. I'm not sure why, but something made me purchase this album and I am so glad that I did. From first listen, it almost literally knocked me on my behind and opened my eyes (and ears) to some bold new territory for me.
The opening track "Gothica" is a short, theatrical mood builder that kicks into a very powerful symphonic-rocker, "Fleurs Du Mal". Some highlights for me are the duet with Andrea Bocelli - "Canto Della Terra". "Sanvean" sounds like something that could be on a Lord of the Rings soundtrack and there is even a duet with Paul Stanley of Kiss fame. "Let it Rain" reminded me of Kate Bush abit and it is a lovely song with a great piano hook. I found the more operatic tracks very accessible and such a breath of fresh air! "Running" starts out as such, but segues into an upbeat pop song. This entire album is beautiful...not a single weak track throughout, it spans many musical styles which will broaden your musical horizons and always present of course, is the angelic voice of the lovely Sarah Brightman. A wonderful album!

3 out of 5 stars "Fleurs du Mal" is wort every $$$ for this CD   January 31, 2008

Sadly the beginning of this CD doesn't reflect the whole vibe of this new album by Sarah Brightman. I did enjoy a few tracks but I was a little sad when I noticed that the only thing that is really Gothic or dark is the intro, the song FLEURS DU MAL and the artwork of the album!

We all know what Sarah can do with her voice! She should stick to her powerful songs and melodies like Eden, Deliver Me, Harem, The Fly, La Mer, Winters In July and now Les Fleurs Du Mal. To me that's what makes Sarah Brightman the best female artist in the world! Her voice and a rock band makes the best damn thing in the world!

The songs with Paul Stanley (KISS) is very nice too!

That's a good album but I was expecting more from her!

Can't wait to see her on tour!

4 out of 5 stars A bold range of styles.   January 29, 2008

Recorded in Germany, the US and the UK, Sarah Brightman's brand new studio album "Symphony" features all-new songs, and was created by with long-time producer, Frank Peterson.
Sarah Brightman possesses one of the most recognizable voices in the land of pop-classical crossover.
The album features 13 tracks that explore a bold range of styles.
From the Gothic tempestuousness of "Fleurs du Mal", to the pleading "Let It Rain", "Symphony" is a thrilling collection of material that cannot be easily categorized, yet remains accessible to lovers of a vast array of musical genres.
Sarah states: "Throughout my career, I have worked in so many different styles of music. This is the first album where all of these styles come together to create a very diverse musical landscape."
In addition to reuniting her with Andrea Bocelli on the romantic "Canto Della Terra", this characteristically eclectic album features collaborations with Spanish countertenor Fernando Lima ("Pasion"), Italian tenor Alessandro Safina ("Sarai Qui"), and rock superstar Paul Stanley (KISS) on "I Will Be with You".
Another album highlight is "Running", the IAAF's Green Project Charity song, which Sarah performed earlier this year at their Championships opening ceremonies in Osaka, Japan.
