| Customer Reviews:
The vikings master their craft October 1, 2008 Amon Amarth's newest album easily blasts their previous effort, 'With Oden On Our Side' out of the water. That says a lot, given that 'Oden' was 2006's best metal album and superior to the one before that. This time around the band has matured a lot in their musicianship, not that it has ever been an issue with these guys. The songs here are technically excellent and the songs themselves are up a notch, but you'll still find plenty of viking themes throughout the whole album (some things just don't change). Sound-wise, this is probably the most melodic album so far, occasionally to the point that some of the melodies could find a home on an earlier album from Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. The growls here are as furious as ever and the pounding anthems are as strong as ever but are both complemented well by the strong musical melodies. What you have here is Amon Amarth's most mature and strongest album, and I for one can't wait to hear selections the next time I see these guys play live.
Stand-out tracks: "Twilight Of The Thunder God", "Live For The Kill", "The Hero"
