4 out of 5 stars Maximo part Deaux is equally enterntaining!   May 2, 2004

Like its predicessor, Army of Zin is one of the most difficult and frustrating games you'll ever love. There were times when I found myself literally screaming at the screen because I wanted to throw my controller through it and hit the monsters on the other side. Capcom really tries (and succeeds) to put the odds against Maximo the majority of the time. There are a few scenes when I wondered how I was able to make it out alive.

This time out, Maximo gets to learn new moves from old fighters he meets in battle, and can buy items from some of the street vendors he saves from evil. As difficult as the game is, and it is, Maximo "From Ghosts to Glory" was even more difficult and more frustrating.

Graphic and sound quality are above average, but certainly not in the league of some of the greats. But they don't need to be, the game play is outstanding. Conceptually, Maximo blends the best of old school gaming, with new school graphics.

A VERY worthwhile purchase, you'll definitely get your money's worth wih this title.

Great job Capcom!

4 out of 5 stars Lots of fun!   April 28, 2004

This game is better than expected. You can easily cruise through the game just hacking and slashing enemies, but the challenge is to get all the rewards and hidden treasures. Bosses are huge. As with many games you empty their energy bar and it fills back again, but with different kind of attacks. It is a combination of action, adventure and platformer, but basically is the first one. Collecting money enables you to buy armor, health, techniques or underwear for increasing armor protection or finding treasures. If you are a hardcore gamer and have time to spare, you can play it in Hard mode too. I have had lot of fun. I didn't give it 5 stars because it doesn't have a deep story, but you can live with that because the levels are short but challenging, and you don't have to start each level from the beginning since it has checkpoints located through out the levels. You can also save when ever you need to, don't have to get to saving points.

4 out of 5 stars An underrated platformer worthy of your time   March 16, 2004
Maximo Vs. The Army Of Zin is Capcom's sequel to last year's Maximo: Ghost To Glory, whose character design and atmosphere is loosely based on the old Ghosts And Ghouls arcade games. Army Of Zin refines every postive aspect of the first game and eliminates all the annoying quirks fans could possibly complain about in a platformer. The difficulty has been lowered to a more reasonable level, camera movement is fluid, the graphics are beautiful, the music is just right for the mood, and the whole game is just more fun than the last Maximo. Even though Army Of Zin may be lacking in terms of new skills for Maximo, he can now perform combo attacks with his sword that allow for much more satisfying battles. There are still a few issues with hit detection present...grabbing onto a ledge from an awkward angle is often more difficult than it should be. Despite overly-critical reviews, I think platformer fans will be pleased with this sequel. Hey, at least it's proof that Capcom can still make a decent action game.

4 out of 5 stars Maximo Rules!!!!   March 6, 2004
Maximo vs aoz is an awsome flat out action game to play.
This one basicly takes place were the second one left off.
When I first heard about maximo vs aoz it was in around 2002.
I couldnt wait till it came out! And I wasnt dissapointed this game rocks.

The graphics are very good. Top notch. Gameplay is awsome.
To a warning to anyone who gets frustraited easily on video games and makes them want to throw it out the window...THIS GAME IS NOT FOR YOU!! The game is very in some what ways difficult and repetitive. But Its a great game. I personly loved this game. The weapons are awsome the gameplay is awsome. And you get to use Grim!I heard that he was gonna be a big help in this game when I readon a mag.

Over all it is a pretty good game. It has a pretty good price to. So if youre not frustrated with games and want have a little challenge get the game. And if you cant find the secrets to the game to get 100% then just get the guid. It tells you in the walkthrough.
