Prince of persia sands of excellence August 5, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I must have completed this game at least eight times since I got it for christmas (with a ps2 might I add) Everything about it is a classic, 100% grade A work from pop team and ubisoft. Ok ok, I admit the start of the game is a little bit dull, that is until you retreive the dagger only about 5% of the way into the game. Its not a very long game, I can finish it in about 4 hours, I know all the secrets (I work in a chat game help text service the number to call if you need help or secrets is 0773 1331 864 not only for popsot but a number of many games charged at standard rate. text the word, pshelp)You'll begin the game, the first 30% with a rather pathetic sword, but the sand creatures you face mach it so don't worry. The different levels all merge into the princes journey (with Farah) they follow as - Outside the Maharajahs palaces and its defences, inside the palace of Azah, in a warehouse, the sultan zoo, the baths, in castles, underground reseviours, baths, hall of learning, prison, the tower of dawn, a tomb, and climbing the tower. Throughout these stagest, 3 sword up grades. Finishing with a weapon that can eliminate sand cratures with a single successful strike (kicking doesn't count). there are many magic fountains availiable throught the game, Game service mentioned above know the werabouts of them all so please feel free to ask for help.
The Prince Of Perfection!!!! July 11, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Let me tell you this game just plain out rocks! Having played my fair share of Ps2 games...this game stands far and wide as one of the best...To be honest it might be one of the funnest games Ive ever played. It starts off like a platformer type game but then some heavy combat comes into play...my girlfriend and I split up the playing....(since I had rented it)... we beat it in 7 days,.....she was floored by it...as I was..the graphics are far above most games....smoothe and clear...and his movements are amamzing...you never fall off ledges or die too easy...and the rewind thing is soooo cool!...Im a 37 year old gamer so its really incredible to find a game that just plays so well. Buy this game...rent it!!! Damn I cant say enough... you will not be let down my friend....
excellent game June 29, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Pros: - graphics: players feel as if they are indeed hundreds if not thousands of feet above the ground. Very well animated characters and cut scenes. - story: well written story keeps player interested in game outcome. - controls: player can perform stupendous combat moves and stunts to defeat enemies and solve puzzles, all with minimal button presses. - seamless tutorial system: the included tutorials integrate well into the overall gameplay. - challenge: for once a game is designed where the player can clearly attribute mistakes to actions taken rather than gameplay, game design, or AI decisions.Cons: - camera angles at times get in the way. While overall better than most games, they still could use some work. Some points players must travel to are hidden out of view at times. Limited camera controls don't help this either. - very difficult: novice gamers may get discouraged by the challenge. - easter egg bug: I couldn't get the secret game unlocked in the version purchased new off the shelf.
Excellent platforming June 26, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game has some very original platforming; I've never jumped so many different ways. There are a lot of cool jumping puzzles; the developers obviously concentrated on making this game different from other platformers.Another way they did this was the combat system; it's quite good if a little bit frustrating. It allows you to whip around the battle killing enemies. You can reverse time to recover health, slow down time to deal extra damage, and more. To finish off an enemy, you have to stab it with your dagger (this is annoying in a large battle because of the control setup). The animation is good (there are over 600 separate animations including transition animations). It frequently looks awkward, even though it runs smoothly (the Prince runs with his shoulders hunched; it looks kind of weird). Farah's animations look weird. Graphics are fairly good (it runs on the Splinter Cell engine, probably because it's developed by the same team). The architecture on the palace itself is well-done and consistent. The game runs at a smooth 30 frames per second (think Splinter Cell). There are some interviews on the disc (also a la Splinter Cell), which is cool. You get to see all of the game's creators, including Jordan Mechner (original Prince of Persia). The story is a change from the normal (the Prince was responsible for releasing the Sands of Time). The voice acting is only passable, though, and frequently near-inaudible (same problem as Splinter Cell). You may have noticed something; I'm quite fond of semicolons and parentheses (they help you get more across in your sentences, and I didn't want to bother rewriting everything just to make it look better). Overall, a good game. It's worth your money. If you liked Splinter Cell, a lot here will be familiar (minus old man Fisher).
This game is destined to be a classic June 14, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Not since the debut of the legendary Tomb Raider on PS1 has a game captured so much of my time and attention as UBI Soft's Prince of Persia has. The Graphics are gorgeous and the control is dead on tight. This game has it all; Fighting, action, adventure. The first time you power up the game and start running along the walls and doing gymnastics and swinging from poles, doing impossible jumps. I just cant say enough about this title. I highly reccommend this game to anyone who liked Tomb Raider. Actually this is the game that Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness should have been. Get it...you wont be dissappointed.
