From Amazon.com Pokemon Sapphire's updated graphics with weather effects, amazing sound, more than 200 Pokemon with over 100 new species--as well as its faithful adherence to the existing series of Pokemon games--makes for a welcome evolution in the series. First, the game has a lot in common with Pokemon games Silver, Gold, and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal clock sets events at certain times, and the game's handy-dandy Pokedex helps players keep track of the many stats. You're main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pokemon Master. If you've played the old games, you will be right at home. But not all is the same. The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pokemon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pokemons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pokemon watch your fire Pokemon's back. You can also attack more than one Pokemon at a time. A whole new element to the game focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them to a Berry Blender and make a PokeBlock, which is a little super-charged candy that raises your Pokemon's "Condition" attributes. You can then groom your Pokemon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like "Best of Show," which will unlock additional contests. There's even strategy in how to best use your berries: pick too many and the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, and a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room. And let us not forget that Pokemon Sapphire has a kickin' multiplayer system, too. You can trade Pokemon, and link up to four players for incredible battles. The only downside is that you can't link up with the old Game Boy Color games. --Bryan Karsh Pros: - You can control two Pokemon in battle
- Much needed graphic and sound facelift
- Nice multiplayer feature (requires link cable and extra game cartridge)
Cons: - Can't trade Pokemon with Game Boy Color
Amazon.com Preview If you're just starting out with Pokemon, the object of the game is to explore the world and to capture and tame wild Pokemon (pocket monsters) through battle with your trained Pokemon. Winners are rewarded with badges, and the experience gained in battle makes their Pokemon stronger. The series has been a huge hit for the Game Boy Color, and Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire mark the series' entrance to the Game Boy Advance platform. Like previous sets, the two games are identical to each other aside from a few exclusive Pokemon between them. There are some pretty big changes since the last game, however. First, trainers can now bring two Pokemon into battle instead of just one. This adds a new layer of strategy to battles since your Pokemon can complement each others' powers or cover each others' weaknesses. Also, these games have the known universe of Pokemon characters, including all of those from Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal editions, along with about 100 new Pokemon, which would put the total in the 350 range. And let's not forget that the GBA hardware allows for much-improved graphics, during both battles and exploration. As in Crystal, you can choose to play as either a boy or girl trainer. Pokemon is also a great game for connecting GBAs together. The Game Link cable will allow you to battle head-to-head against other players as well as trade with friends the Pokemon you've developed. --Porter B. Hall

THE BEST GAME I OWN!!!!! February 8, 2005 This is a GREAT game!!! Even if some people say it sucks, don't listen to them! But I still think that the latest game,Pokemon Emerald,is MUCH MUCH better.(Nintendo says it's gonna be released in english on April 2005!) OK,I WAS gonig to rate it 5 stars, but I took one away. Why? cause I wish it had more extras, like Firered,Leafgreen, and Emerald. The only extras it has are: 1.Catch or kill(lol)Groudon/Kyogre 2.Catch or beat the Regis 3.Beat the elite four(not realy an extra but whatever...) 4.Beat the battle tower 5.Catch or kill Rayquaza. 6.Become champ of contests 7.Chase and catch Latias/Latios 8.Get Jirachi with the colloseum bonus disk 9.Get Deoxys (don't know how) 10.Complete Pokedex and Nationaldex if possibleOK,I take back what I said earlier. That is a good number of extras. But if you want a Pokemon game with TOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNS of extras and stuff, get Pokemon Emerald. For more info on the games and lots of other stuff, check this AWESOME site: www.serebii.net Love this site. It's probably the best Pokemon site on the net!
cool! November 22, 2004 Sapphire version is the same as ruby version. But you can't get some pokemon in each game's.It's far by better then the previous version.Graphics have improved,New pokemon contest's,2on2pokemon battle's,Pokemon ability's,Weather details,New HM and TM and more...The thing is with this game is that you can't trade with the previous pokemon game's.BUT!You can with Fire Red and Leaf Green versions. The other thing is that after the Pokemon league you can't do much stuff but there are somethings too do like: Battle Tower,The legendary's,Finish you'r pokedex, finish you're national pokedex, the contest's stuff like that but noo more big challenge's.These are the maximum cons i can think of but there are lot's and lot's of pros. The game is better then the previous versions.Have superb graphics for gba/sp,and more.Pros: Pokemon contest's New pokemon's Up grade to the national pokedex Weather details 2 ON 2 pokemom battle's The new record changing conection's New legendary's The battle tower NEW EVIL TEAM'S TEAM AQUA(SAPPHIRE)/TEAM MAGMA (RUBY) New and improved graphics Cool sound effects Nice music for those pokemon fans AND MORE! cool game July 5, 2004 The only reason i gave it 4 out of 5 stars is it because it is sooooooooo easy game.I completed the game and captured many pokemons include the legendary pokemon(regirock,....etc) in 16 hours. But it is very intresting.
