The perfect shooter February 28, 2008
Seriously what can shooter fans possibly complain about with this game. It is perfect. I mean I can think of not one thing to complain about this game. The combination of superb single and multiplayer action is unmatched (sorry Halo 3). If you are a fan of shooters, you should stop reading this review right now and go buy this game. What are you waiting for? You won't be sorry......

I do not play war games. Generally speaking, I'm tired of the same old WW2 Axis versus Allies jargon that we've seen so much of in the past. If, like me, you've forever avoided the Call of Duty series because of this recycled theme ... you may want to reconsider.
Call of Duty 4 is a breath of fresh air.
It is a first-person shooter which focuses on "modern warfare"; essentially this means that the conflict will take place in the Middle East and in Russia in various fictional (or unnamed) locations with various fictional (or unnamed) antagonists and, no, it does not have any Nazis.
The graphics in CoD4 are stunning, the locations are often cloned straight from real life, the game play is intuitive, there's a massive selection of weapons, and you get to switch between playing for the US and the British forces. There's even a nice twist in the middle of the game.
And if multiplayer is your cup of tea, this game features 2-18 player versus mode online. What this game DOES NOT HAVE is a local player co-op mode; you will only be able to play versus split-screen, not the main campaign.
If you're a fan of first-person shooters and enjoyed games such as Halo, Bioshock, and presumably any of the other Call of Duty titles, then this is a must-have.

As a big fan of gears of wars I was a little underwhelmed by call of duty 3. However Call of Duty 4 is a better all round play than gears. More realistic, better story and more engrossing environment. A must buy!

if love shooters you must buy this game. it has great grafics it has guns and it has great story line. so you better buy this game our your out of your f***ing mind.

I cant say i'm a huge fan of first person shooter games. i bought gears of war and bioshock and after a couple of levels, i was bored. i decided to pick this game up from watching the trailer and it is impressive.
The graphics are unreal and seem so lifelike. Going through the levels is a ton of fun and the AI of your team is great. There are so many weapons to choose from which makes the game even more enjoyable.
I guess my only beef with this game (and many like it), is the fact that there is no cooperative campaign play. It would be nice to go through missions with a friend.
That being said, it's still one of the best video games i've ever bought and would recommend it.
