5 out of 5 stars Almost as Good as the first   April 3, 2007
Like my title says, it's almost as good as the first.

The game is really fun, i was addicted to it just like i was with the first one. I don't really know what to say about it, the game's worth getting. I just found it kind of disappointing in some ways. sure the game had good conversations, with lots of different choices, and the lightsabre construction takes a lot longer to get to, with more choices to make on your weapon, but it lacked some things.

for instance, the plot wasn't as good as the first in my opinion, with no big surprises. The first was full of thrill and excitement, with a crazy twist near the end. KOTOR 2 didn't have any twists.

Im also pissed off because you can't hit on anyone.
in KOTOR 1, you could hit on bastilla and become lovers if you were male, or hit on carth onasi if you were female. conversations with them made the game a heck of a lot more exciting and fun, and it added to the game too.

KOTOR 2 doesn't give you a choice to fall in love with anyone. That makes me mad, because all Jedi should be exposed to things that could turn them away from the way of the Jedi. Loving is prohibited, but it makes KOTOR a lot more fun. KOTOR 1 was a lot more realistic.

KOTOR 3 better give you more choices, choices like falling for someone or not. Whether you obey your jedi training and resist temptation, or falter, and make love like sea otters with someone you've been trying to resist.

I don't know, basically, if you could hit on and be with someone like Bastilla or Carth in KOTOR 1, then KOTOR 2 would rock. but it lacks romance, and im a sap for romantic elements in games.

Knights of the Old Republic 2 is good, but it's not as good as the first. I hope KOTOR 3 will make up for it in the romance department.

3 out of 5 stars KOTOR 2   October 13, 2006
First up, let me say, that this game does have some substantial improvements from the original. The added prestige classes, the varied upgrades for armour, weapons, and lightsabers, and the individual agenda each party character has, rather than the "peer pressure" exhibited by the party members in the first game.
Now the bad news, ignoring some of the glitches and choppy frame rates, which to be honest are minimal after you add the patches, it is painfully obvious still that KOTOR 2 was an incomplete game. The storylines are very indepth and they do get you involved, but this only leads to a bigger fall when the game fails to deliver. The endings, or lack thereof, were by far the biggest disappointment, especially if you played out both endings of the first game. Secondly, there are quests which you don't get to take part in, even though they are mentioned to you, the most obvious being the HK-50 factory, which is a great shame because the idea of HK-47 going genocidal on his "cheap copies" was a big hope of mine when the quest was first introduced.
Another disappointment as was mentioned in another amazon review, was the confrontation of the big baddies. For me, confronting Darth Nihilus, (The scary guy with the white mask on the cover of the game) was a big let down. Darth "I sleep with vibroblades" Sion, wasn't a great confrontation either, although I can see where the developer's were going with that one. So I can't really complain too much.
All in all however, this game will provide you with days of gameplay. Bearing in mind it takes about 20 hours to finish the game on one path. If you consider you can be light or dark, and there are 3 prestige classes, as well as 3 starting classes, like wise for added difficulty, you can attempt to stay neautral throughout the game (a path I haven't tried yet), you have the makings of a game that you can keep coming back to. Also the addition of being able to turn your party members into Jedi, is a welcome change and a nice touch.
If you are a fan of the original or Star Wars in general, you will be happy with this game despite it's failings and I would certainly not try to disuade anyone from buying it. Just don't build your hopes up for the ending.

3 out of 5 stars Half a game short   March 13, 2005
I loved the first KOTOR, and loved the first part of this one. I won't give away the ending, other than to say (1) two arch-villains are built up in the first half and then wasted as fodder for the hero, (2) All but one storyline remains incomplete, and not in the cliffhanger ending way but more the 'oops I forgot to write the rest' way. (I have since learned that the ending was written and partially built, but LucasArts cut it out)

After spending $60 on this game, it seems only fair for LucasArts to mail every owner a second disc with the proper ending on it!

I experienced some problems with choppy frame rates but overall I enjoyed this game as much as the first. Loved the addition of the prestige classes (although if you've played other Bioware titles this should come as no surprise) but I would have preferred to be able to go to more planets.

Overall, it was a great game although I found the ending abrupt with a minor plot inconsistency. The new lightsaber ungrades and colours were also a nice addition If you liked the first and love the Star Wars universe you'll like this game as well, the playable demo of republic commando should get your mouth watering also.

5 out of 5 stars Greatest RPG on the XBOX   December 18, 2004

First of all I have had no problems with my copy of KOTOR II, after about 15hrs of game play.
This game really suprised me since it wasn't created by Bioware that developed the first KOTOR. The Bioware creation of KOTOR I was great and I didn,t expect the sequel to match it's greatness. To my pleasant suprise this game is even better than the first!
I have a hard time putting down my controller to sleep. The quality of voice acting is good and there is plenty of interesting dialog in this game.
This game is a must for anyone how enjoyed the first installment and be prepared for some long gaming sessions once you load this baby up.
