Best running headphones I have ever seen.August 25, 2008 I've spent countless hours researching to find the perfect pair of running headphones. I spent alot of money over the past several years trying to find headphones that do two things, and two things only: 1. Stay on my head 2. Sound decent
I've tried every style out there, from earbuds to over the ear hooks, to behind the head styles. I've tried several different brands of each, every time unable to find a pair that stays on my head. The best so far was a phillips brand over the ear earbud type. They stayed on my ears, but once I would get to 3 or 4 miles on the road, my ears would be sweating so bad they would just pop out. I was constatnly having to fidget with them so I could hear the music.
I just got this pair last week, and reluctantly took them on my Satruday morning 10 miler. One hour and 22 minutes later, THEY STAYED ON MY HEAD!!!! I was amazed that at the end of my workout, I didn't have to mess with my headphones one single time. The sound quality was also great, much better than the phillips I had been using. Not too much treble, just the right amount of base and clear, crips sound.
If you are a runner, these headphones are perfect for you. I can now clean out my drawer of 20 pairs of headphones.
Creative Ear idea, mediocre executionAugust 25, 2008 I'm on a continuous quest to find a set of headphones for running that stay in my ears. The standard ear pods don't work for me, and all the over the ear phones I've tried- while they don't necessarily fall off, they do dangle in front of the ear canal a bit- which affects sound quality. Ones that go directly into the ear canal are uncomfortable and since I jog on the road a lot... dangerous as they block out the sound of oncoming traffic.
I have about 200 miles of jogging on these earphones. About 3-1/2 months.
1. Fit: I've tried various combinations of the little green pads that come with it, but they don't really stay in all that well for me. Every mile or so I am re-twisting them back into my ear. Overall, however, I haven't found an earphone that stays in even close to this well. So- 4-stars in this regard. They fit/stay in better than any other I've tried. But- still not perfect.
2. Sound quality: Good. Not great, but good. Terrific sound for $30 earphones- but they aren't competing with the Bose or other $100+ units. The base isn't filled out but it is decent, the upper mid-range isn't as clear as it could be. But- they sound a step better than, let's say, the stock earphones that come with the ipod. So, as long as you're not an audiophile, you'll probably enjoy the sound quality. I do. I give them another 4-stars here. Maybe 5 given the (very low) price.
3. Reliability. After not quite 4 months of regular use, one of the earphones has begun to buzz. i.e. like a broken speaker. So, at least in my case, I'm now looking for my next pair to try for running. 2-stars.
4. The worst part: The green wire. No, I don't have a problem with the bright color (who cares?), it has other issues. The overall length is good, but the green wire retains the original coil shape that it came with- so it's constantly getting tangled on itself. Secondly, the right earbud is much much longer than the left... and it doesn't have a slider to keep the two together when not in use. So, firstly, they always wrap around each other and get tangled, secondly; one of the wires is way too long and dangles and knocks on itself (which you can hear) when you're running. Really awful design. It does come with a clip, that must be attached to the shirt (don't lose it) off to one side, and with some creativity (wrapping the long side behind my head) I have gotten the whole unequal length thing to work. 2-stars here.
They hurt a bit, but...August 24, 2008 Throw away the headphones that came with your ipod. Put these in your ears and hear all the MUSIC that has been missing from your music! There is still some sound to be gained -- these do not sound like my Bose quiet comfort headphones. But then they don't cost hundreds of dollars either! I'm a runner and though I have not had trouble with headphones popping out, I have had ear buds that lose some of their sound because they won't stay firmly in place. No trouble with that with these, the little arms make these guys stay tucked in tight.
I have two complaints: First: these little guys hurt my ears for the first week I wore them. Lucky for them I like the sound so much better that I stuck it out and now they are perfectly comfortable. Second the wire's have a bit of twist in them and won't lay flat, which bugs some.
Overall, well, like I said, throw the white ones away!
As AdvertisedAugust 24, 2008 This product works as advertised. Even after running for a couple of hours it still stayed in place and the sound quality was good.
