1 out of 5 stars You'd be better off buying a pair of turds   October 30, 2008

Sennheiser should be ashamed to sell products of this low quality. The coiled cable is a terrible design that does nothing besides make them much harder to get untangled. The earphones come with a variety of little interchangeable parts but they attach so loosely that they are ripped off and lost within a matter of days under normal use (as in, putting them into and taking them out of your pocket). First, both of the decorative plastic pieces fell off. Then the rubber discs fell off that form part of the twist-to-fit system. Then the rubber rings around the speakers themselves fell off. I threw the earphones away after I had run out of the various spare parts that Sennheiser includes with the earphones.

Moreover, the sound quality just isn't good. Not as good as the stock ipod earphones, and certainly not anywhere close to Sennheiser good.

3 out of 5 stars not very durable, and not easy to use. sound is ok though   October 30, 2008
when I travel with these, I have to be careful that the extended pad doesn't come off. try to find that little thing when it falls off on the plane. they are made to be changed around for size, but not very durable. also, this item comes with a case that is a very strange shape. maybe they were trying to make it look 'cool' or artsy or something, but it takes about 3 minutes and as challenging as a sudoku puzzle to try to get the earbuds and cord to fit inside. most of the time I can't get the case completely shut. i have started to just carry them around in a ziploc bag since the case is useless. ALSO, on the first time i opened the package the long, chrome colored piece of the body (the part farthest from your ear) fell off. I had to super-glue it, now it's fine. another piece that would have surely been lost already.

I really had high expectations for this and wanted it to work so bad because I was willing to spend $12 on it (the street one). I expected the vol to be low because i had read reviews, but i was willing to accept that in hopes that the fit would be right. even all the random sizing accessories couldn't make the thing fit in my ear. The bud was too fat and the top thing didn't help at all (the angle of the bend was too great it couldn't even make contact with my ear).

As far as the sound goes...sounded muffled, some bass. I normally have my mp3 play vol on 10/24 when it's quiet, but these required somewhere between 14-19/24.

I attribute the fit to my asian ears, but I much prefer my Panasonic Ear Drops (RP-HV21) which cost me $8.12 here on amazon. The fit was nearly perfect and the sound is decent (I'm not an audiophile).

5 out of 5 stars best headphones I've owned   October 25, 2008
these things are great. great sound, comfort, quality. If you have any problems with the bass not sounding deep enough, thats because they're not fitted in your ear properly. These are a must have if you intend to use them while you exercise.

1 out of 5 stars Sennheiser MX 55 earphones   October 24, 2008
The quality of the product is fine but the padding around the earbuds and the supporting padding areas are the worst. I lose the padding on a consistent basis. The casing is an exercise of design over function. In order to put the ear phones back in the case, if takes a minute or two.
