Great product overall, with some shortcomingsDecember 2, 2008 I think the Kindle is a great idea! I like that I can have multiple books and only take up a small amount of space. I like that it's completely portable and it takes mere seconds to download an entire book. I wish it was in color because I think it would be awesome for field guides. I also wish it had the option of a backlight feature. I know that drains the battery faster, but would be great when the attachable light just isn't handy. The only other complaint I have is the location of the buttons. It gives you very little space to actually hold the device without accidentally advancing pages. Otherwise, I think this is a great product idea and I can't wait for this product to catch on and become cheaper to use and give us more options for downloads. It is well on it's way!
Everything I hoped it would be!December 2, 2008 I have had my Kindle 3 weeks now and I totally love it! It is everything I hoped for. I initially saw it on Oprah and though I do usually like her suggestions, I did a lot of homework before purchasing it. I'm sure glad that I did. Love the feature of being able to preview a book before purchasing and also the ability to access the dictionary mid-reading to look up a meaning. Enjoyed the 2-week free trial of the New York Times also. The only change I would make would be to put the on/off button on the front instead of the back because sometimes I inadvertently press "next page" when I am taking it out of the cover to turn off. Other than that - I'm happy!
AmazingDecember 2, 2008 I bought this for my entire family. What a wonderful product. From the moment I opened the box it was up and running. I downloaded a book without reading anything. My 16 year old daughter is even reading books on it! I love the sample feature of taking a look at a book before buying it. We use the font feature all the time. Everyone has their own preference. It is great for students because of the dictionary look up feature, highlighting text and note feature. I love its green aspect. No more cutting down trees. My only recommendation is a light fixture. This is a must have product.
A great idea whose time has come!December 2, 2008 Kindle is a great idea. I bought it for traveling, but I enjoy reading it any time. It's lighter to hold than most paperbacks, and it's easy on the eyes. For those of us who need glasses to read, being able to enlarge the font is a helpful feature. I actually forget that I'm reading a screen rather than a book page, often reaching to "turn the page" instead of pressing the "next page" bar. I think this is wonderful idea for college students, who could eventually carry all their textbooks on this one little electronic book. It'll be healthier for their backs and posture. I hope more magazines will be available on Kindle in the near future. Will color be available in the future? Downloading books is a snap, taking less than 30 seconds for it to arrive on my screen. Fantastic!

Excellent product! Easy to use, and very intuitive. No issues, no worries. And too easy to keep ordering books. :-) But the Amazon price for a new Kindle book is over half the store. Great product.
