great headphones, but not very durableDecember 4, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought a pair of these headphones in July. It is now December, and I am ordering a second pair to use when the wire finally snaps off just above the plug. I love the way these stay in my ears. My ear canals are apparently not the same, and other headphones only work on one side. These stay in on both sides, and are fairly comfortable, even when worn for a long time. The main problem I have is that the cord is falling apart. I have electrical tape wound around several sections where the insulation is splitting. I have had cheaper headphones stand up to regular use better than these, but I can't find a better pair to fit my ears.
I HATE the Coiled CableDecember 3, 2006 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
The sound coming from these headphones is great, and so is the twist to fit method of keeping the buds in your ears. But the cable is absulutely the worst one I've ever seen. I guess the coiled cable idea is ok in theory, but uncoiling the cable every time I use them is awful. Every time I put them in it takes at least a minute of untangling the cable to be able to use them. And I don't understand at all why the left cable (about 12-15") is so much shorter than the right (about 30"). The left cable is so short that the left ear bud keeps jerking at the shirt clip, which means I have to adjust them several times to stop the jerking. Except for the earbud, the iPod approach to the cable is MUCH, MUCH better.
Earbuds that finally stay in!December 3, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Let me preface this review by saying I'm not an audio expert. But I'm an outdoor runner who's tried different brands of headphones (cheap and not-so-cheap) and am pleased to say that I've finally found earbuds that do fit comfortably & securely. The wires don't bother me as I just run them down the back of my shirt. Nor am I nit-picky about the sound -- as far as I'm concerned, the quality is fine. These are kinda pricey but worth it, in my opinion, if - like me - you've had trouble finding earbuds that fit!
I hate it when I have to work...November 29, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Unlike the rest of you, it seems, I don't work out in these, I actually work in them. I work on vehicles and move around alot, I wear these in a sort of self defence to drown out the hip-hop radio stations the younger workers listen to. At home I mow and chop down trees with these phones and ear protection headsets to save my ears, I don't have to play the music very loud at all... These work better than any 'earbud' design I have ever used. Your choice of headphones should be for fit and lack of distortion at the level you listen, and you should never blast headphones, they can damage your ears, the effect of which you won't notice for a very long time, like when you really want to hear something that is soft. or when you lay awake at night and hear 'ringing' in your ears. These have no detectable distortion, the audio spectrum is very clear and flat; i.e. you'll have to emphasize bass with your device, these headphones are really flat. And they stay on. The cables are stiff because Sennheiser uses steel wires rather than softer copper, they will last quite a while if taken care of.
Work like a charm for runningNovember 27, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
As most people have written on here, it's a real challenge to get headphones that work and stay secure while running. After the 5th set of Sony Style Sports wore out (wire on left ear from either sweat or getting thrown and twisted in a gym bag) I was looking for something that might have a longer life. Reviews were on the positive side for this one so I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised.
The sound was good, the green color is irrelevant to me, the coiled cord can be wrapped around my iriver while on the arm bad and the longer right ear cord gets routed behind your back. Use the clip to secure it to your shirt and these things dont move! I spent 45 mins running hard, getting extra sweaty, then went and did some free weights to see if the cord got in the way or the buds got pulled out, but they were perfect.
Sennheiser has a hit.
If the wires last more than a year I think these guys are well worth the cost.
