Excellent Printer for the Price October 21, 2008 I previously had a Canon iP printer and the quality of the prints was excellent so when I went to buy a new printer that was my top priority. After talking to Canon a couple of time & adjusting the parameters, I finally am getting those quality prints again. I don't know if it was because I switched platforms and am now using an IMac or not. The speed, cost and quality of the prints are top notch and I would definitely recommend this printer to anyone who can't afford the big bucks but wants good quality prints.
CD/DVD problem solved October 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just bought the Pixma iP4680, which appears to be the model replacing the iP4500. It's a bit cheaper, has basically same specs, but prints a tad slower.
Printing on CDs and DVDs is important to me, so it was with some trepidation, having read the review about limited control of the inner circle size, that I bought this unit. But the problem is solved. Here's the fix. Don't use the CD/DVD printing software (CD-LabelPrint or Easy-PhotoPrint) that comes with the printer. I am printing directly from InDesign, and after a few trials am using a page that is 4.7222 (don't ask) inches wide by 9.125 inches high. I place my image 3.425 inches down from the top. Bingo. Total control of inner circle, outer circle, everything. You can coat your entire CD/DVD AND the insert tray with ink if you want to. Well, certain sections of the tray anyway.
I'm using WinXP. When it's time to print, click "Print" > "Setup" > "Preferences." For Media Type: choose "Printable disc (recommended)"; Paper Source automatically jumps to "Disc tray." Make other settings as desired. Whack OK a few times. Follow on-screen directions about inserting the CD/DVD tray. Hit OK again.
Great results here. Your mileage may, as they say, vary. Good luck. ;^)
So far, just perfect! October 14, 2008 My much loved, though wanky, Epson bit the dust during a rushed project. After reading various reviews-Consumer Reports and the Amazon reviews primarily, I purchased this printer from Amazon. Really rushed, I plugged the printer in when it arrived and it hasn't stopped since. It is very intuitive to use and very fast. I love this printer!
Canon Pixma ip4500 printer October 13, 2008 I've only had this for a few weeks, but so far am happy with this printer. Printing is excellent quality and NO paper jams, which has been a big problem with my last 2 printers. Pictures are excellent quality. Printer is quiet.
Love this printer--it is refillable October 12, 2008 I had an IP4300 for 18 months and printed almost 10,000 double-sided color pages and finally ran it into the ground. I just bought the IP4500 and like it as much as I enjoyed my IP4300. The best part is the translucent ink cartridges, which I can easily fill for very little money. I spent less than $150 on ink for those 10,000 pages! Very good little printer!
