works as advertisedSeptember 23, 2008 My partner and I took a couple pairs on our trip to China and were quite pleased. They significantly reduce constant air cabin noise. Isolated noises such as children screaming and overhead announcements were slightly reduced as well, but not near as well as the constant air cabin noise. The headphones were comfortable, lasted forever (we wore them for over 10 hours and they're still going), and they fold up in the carry case nicely. The dangling battery pack does get in the way, but it's a small price to pay for a relatively inexpensive quality set of noise-cancelling headphones.
Great Price vs PerformanceSeptember 22, 2008 This is my second pair of PCX-250 headphones. (A leaky battery did in the first set.) Positives: They're light and small to pack and carry, and adjustable for a fit so comfortable you forget you're wearing them. The battery+ electronics cylinder clips easily to your pocket/shirt/belt, so you can just unplug and stretch your legs without feeling like you need to rewire yourself into that airplane seat. Negatives: When noise canceling is engaged the volume of the music/audio increases, so that on a recent trip I couldn't listen to some of the audio channels: even at lowest volume setting they were too loud for my taste. And after 6-7 hours of continuous wear the on-the-ear fit can start to ache -- you need to move them a bit or remove them for a bit. (I wear glasses and I'm certain the over-the-ear models would do the same if not moved for 6-7 hours.) Your mileage may vary, but I'm so satisfied that as I say, this is my second pair.
Sennheiser PXC 250 a 5 star hit with meSeptember 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ambient noise just dropped like a rock when I turned on the Noise Reduction, Blondie's Greatest Hits is what I chose for my maiden voyage with the PCX 250, Debbie Harry never sounded more dynamic! This product is so much better than reading available reviews was leading me to believe, Excellent Base and clear, crisp, snappy high end response was all there, to more than my satisfaction, I would recommend these headphones to the pickiest audiophile. These are headphones that allow you to experience music and even books on tape, with clarity and an addictive presence. Bravo
Good sound and decent noise cancelling features!September 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The PCX 250 is a nice size and very portable. It has good audio quality and is not as large as the over the ear type and not too small as in-ear models. The battery life is decent and the noise cancelling feature works reasonably well. A point in favour is that it can use standard batteries available anywhere - so one does not get stranded mid-trip. The folding mechanism is a bit delicate and one should be careful while opening and closing the headphones.
Sennheiser PXC250 HeadphonesAugust 31, 2008 Headphones work as advertised. Turn them on and ambient noise disappears. My only problem with them was the lack of adjustment in fit. For complere noise suppresion, you need a good fit on the ear. I could not get a good fit and they remained loose resulting in noise pollution. My wife tried them on and they fit her fine. She is now their owner. I on the other hand will turn to an over the ear design to provide the desired effect.
