Needs TrainingAugust 6, 2008 I bought the "Standard" version twice from Amazon and both times could not load the program because it had an "Invalid" product key. I finally went to Fry's and purchased the "Preferred" version. What I find is that the program does not recognize a significant number of words and commands, even though I did a lot of "training" and speak clearly. It could be that my microphone and/or sound care is deficient, but I find myself having to "train" the program to recognize many words and commands. Once it's trained it's okay, but one must be prepaed to have a lot of patience with this program. Other than that, the program is okay and very useful.
NaturallySpeaking & Laughing My Butt Off!August 6, 2008 I purchased NS to make it quicker for my ebay listing. Well, I like it alot, it helps alot, but I never expected it to also be so amusing! For the most part, it gets it right I'd say 90% of the time...but when it misunderstands me and types what it THINKS I said, sometimes it's so funny I laugh till I cry. The only thing I didn't like was the headset that came with it- way too uncomfortable, but that was easy to fix by buying a better headset. I'd certainly recommend NS to anyone who tires of typing.
Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 Standard maintains the standardAugust 1, 2008 I have used the previous versions of DNS and each one is improved over its predecessor. Training time is shorter and word recognition easier and more accurate. Though the software makes an occasional bizarre interpretation of word pronounciation, it is by and large accurate. The standard edition should suit most users. As a prof, I would give it an A- :-)
Going from version 8 to 9July 31, 2008 I have been disappointed before when upgrading this product. But this time I was very pleasantly surprised. There was definitely a significant improvement to warrent the cost. I did not give it 4 stars because it still has a little ways to go. I have a soft and indistinct voice so it will tend to be less accurate than for others. But even so--I am very happy with the results.
