Sturdy and easy to use, babyJune 27, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is my first HDTV wall mount. I am using it with a Samsung 52 inch LCD display. The product is surprisingly easy to assemble and use.
First you need to use a stud finder to locate a suitable mounting position. Then, using two people, hold up the back piece and mark the four holes to be drilled. A socket wrench or similar tool is needed to install the bolts into the wall (they're bolts, not screws).
Once the wall piece is in place, you just screw on the two tilting pieces to the back of the HDTV. PDR includes a wide variety of screws, so you should be set with just about any flat-screen HDTV. Then you lift the HDTV up and hook the tilting pieces onto the back piece, insert the lock bar behind it, and you're pretty much done.
I found the default tilt to be fine, but it's not that hard to loosen the knobs and set a better position. I admit that upward tilting would be a nice feature, but its absence is no great loss. Once installed, the HDTV can we adjusted laterally to a certain extent (i.e. sliding it left or right), but I prefer to keep mine fairly centered.
This is a great, sturby product. I called PDR's customer service with a rebate question and they were extremely helpful.

Installed the mount with there included hardware. No trips to Lowes to buy good bolts. They are in there. This thing is also super heavy duty. It ways almost as much as my LCD TV It worked perfectly with my 52" Samsung. Pull the trigger its worth it.
Heavy duty but with a downsideMay 22, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the tilting version for a Sony XBR4 52 inch to install above my gas fireplace.
KNOBS: It was self installed with a friend which with simple instructions was easy enough. It was only when hanging the TV that I really wished I had a good view of how well the TV was seated on the base attached to the wall. So loosening the tilt knobs was necessary to get a good view and tilt it forward. Now unless you have child-like arms or special tools your not going to be able to get your arm in that 2-3 inch gap to retighten the knobs with the TV now obstructing you, thus requiring taking the TV down, tightening and hanging again. For added fun, the knobs rear bolt is not seated in the metal so it requires, one hand to hold the back of the knob bolt and one to turn the front. If I was hanging from the ceiling like Mission Impossible I could have got a better angle for the tightening. WOULD love for locking angles instead of adjustable knob twisting. I am a first-time TV installer so now I have a preference. For the average guy trying the install it's something to think about.
HOOKS: The mounting arms connected to the TV would be better in my opinion by not having "highly" rounded edges on the hooks. I know when tilted the weight of the TV and the theft bar on the bottom should keep it taught enough from falling off the wall mount base, but with the questionable knob tightening, its a hairy combination that leaves me less than confident the TV won't fall with a mild tremor.
Get a good stud finder. The Black & Decker Wal-mart edition for 10 bucks was almost useless and would beep constantly even over obviously unstudded areas. Maybe something to do with the fireplace perhaps.
Overall I'm just happy enough, lazy enough or cheap enough not to have another mount shipped and give it another try.
As advertised, heavy dutyMay 12, 2008 If you have a stud finder and a drill, this is an easy installation. If not, I highly recommend pilot holes to ensure you mount this to a stud. All told, I used this to mount a 52" LCD and it has worked well. It is close to the wall but leaves just enough space so that HDMI or other connecting cords fit properly. Depending on TV size, there is some flexibility in lateral placement to help make sure everything is centered just right. As mentioned by many others, you will almost certainly want/need two people to lift the TV onto the mounted bracket. The best thing I can say about this product is that if I ever buy another flat panel, I will also buy one of these mounts. I know it is sturdy, stable, well-constructed, and simple.
