Set Up Problems September 5, 2008 Initial setup seemed relatively straight forward as others have described. I tried the Sweex adaptor with and without a USB extension. Either way it was inconsistent in identifying the wireless hub. All appeared well though until I tried to connect and this simply resulted in nothing happening. I can't see any advice in the manual to overcome this. Looks like for me it will have to back and I'll try another make.
very bad August 19, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
* Very bad at catching signal * Signal comes and go * Had to run the driver in every port
Definitely a mistake. I would not buy it again even for 1 cent.
Why Pay More ?? August 13, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am no geek so always install with some trepidation - this worked fine with XP Home Edition - it took some time to find network address so I re-booted and then it connected straight away.
So easy! August 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Just bought this adapter after trying for over a week to get another adapter working (from a different manufacturer), without any success. Plugged it straight in, didn't need the software, and bingo picked up network straight away, took less than a minute! No fuss, no hassle, no nothing..works a treat. Buy one!
Sweex on xp professional August 4, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had read a reviewer who said the sweex didnt work with XP professional. I took a punt because of the price and was well rewarded. It works perfectly (using the inbuilt XP software to control it and the sweex drivers)! I have an ancient Pentium 3 laptop running XP Professional and it works a treat. Ive just watched Click on iplayer with the sweex plugged in to a USB1 connection. Presumably it would be better with USB2? I didnt have any problems with my wep key either (as previously mentioned). It was all up and running in 10 minutes. It doesn't get red hot and doesn't drop the signal either every 20 mins (without fail) unlike my previous usb wifi adaptor. An excellent piece of kit for very little money indeed.
