I'm buying another July 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am pleased with this easy to use bit of kit. The photo quality is good, it has some internal memory, and wll accept memory sticks and camera type memory cards. The remote worked well. We use the timer which means the pics come on when we are around in the evening to enjoy them.
I'm buying another for my Mum!
Happy Snapper June 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a first class piece of kit, easy to set up,just plug in and insert media, pictures are clear sharp with vibrant colour, just one very small niggle, it's a bit of a fiddle getting the media cards in and out.A really good buy especially on Amazon.
Quality Screen and Simple Menu Interface May 16, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I've just bought this frame as a 70th birthday present for a family member and I am extremely happy with it. My criteria was good screen resolution/quality, simple interface, on/off timer facility and immediate slideshow startup. This frame ticks all of the boxes.
The screen is the best quality that I've seen at a <100 price point. Details are very clear and colours are bright and vibrant without being over saturated. The 800x480 resolution makes all the difference and I would certainly recommend this as a minimum if you want good rendering of your images - something that everyone should expect from a digital frame.
I've found the slideshow transitions to work well with no delay in loading photos. At this point I have not tested with some of my larger JPEGS (10Mb+) but I don't intend to be putting such large files onto the SD Card because I want to maximise available space on the card.
The menu user interface is simple and well presented. There are enough options for the basic use that I required for the recipient of this gift. The on/off timer works a treat as does the immediate start to slideshows once the unit is turned on.
The unit comes with a backstand and is also wall mountable. It has a UK/European interchangable plug and the remote control is simple to use.
I feel that there is only one element missing - random loading of slideshow photos. I would think that this is a fairly basic requirement and perhaps it will/has been included in firmware updates?
All-in-all this is an excellent frame. Image quality and simplicity of use makes it a wonderful present, particularly for people of an older generation, as you really can get by with minimal/no user intervention other than updating with new photos.
***** 5 Stars
Not for those who want to play videos. May 7, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was so happy with its reviews that I bought two of these digiframes last month, one for myself and another for my friend. I am not so happy with my purchase now as it is VERY TEDIOUS to play videos in it. Although specifications suggest that it supports quite a few video formats including .avi and .mov but it does not mean that all videos in these formats would play.
It is because only the ones having correct file format + compression format will be played. Now having right compression format is something very difficult to achieve as there is no easy way available. I mean it will be all the more tedious for a not-so-technology-savvy person.
The software that has been provided with the product merely allows you to edit images but not videos.
I tried to speak to Kodak specialist on their website. He suggested me to go for third party conversion tools. I am highly dissapointed with this aspect of the frame otherwise it is quite good as far as image resolution and ease of use are concerned.
Present for my Grandad March 12, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
As you can guess I brought this photo frame for my Grandad, and its perfect. I wouldnt buy one for myself but he loves it. Ok the internal memory is a bit pants but stick in your memory card and your away! It was so easy for him to use and it looks really nice.
It may not be what your looking for as its not as technically dab-handed as the rest out there (although it does do just as much i.e music and video) but it made my Grandad happy therefore im happy!
:)
